Hi! My name is Kenny...... and i have a problem with hobbies (the 1st step is admitting it)
On my channel I like to share the things I get up to. It could be hunting, camping, fishing, building things, 4wd gear reviews, 3D printing stuff.... pretty much anything an ordinary Aussie bloke would get up to in North Queensland.
I'm trying my best to get a new video out each week, so if you're into that kinda stuff... stick around!
Hi kenny, been meaning to ask - on your 120 prado, where about did you get the steel sliders for the side? they look sick and i am definitely in the market for a set!
With the Lincoln 200M being a bit longer than a lot of welders. What propriety welding cart did you find that was suitable. Or did you build your own….? If so, have you got any info, sketches etc that would assist in me building a similar cart please.
Hey mate, have a look at my most recent video on the Tri Machine Welder Cart. That’s what I’m using now. In the video I also show the previous cart and the top shelf I folded up out of aluminium for it to fit the longer welder 👍🏼
@@Kenny_BSweet. Thanks for prompt reply. Edit: Subsequent to your reply. I have just ordered the WTC-800 Tri-cart welding trolley from H&F. Thanks to the excellent information on this vid and the cart vid you recommended. You have saved me from a lot of deliberation and possibly getting a sub-standard item. Thanks heaps. Bought you a coffee too… (seems not much of a thank-you really, but enjoy it anyway).
Nice project- was thinking of the same- but I would not go so crazy with the frame. mainly stretch it- move steering to middle, add two seats, studs standing up in back so no roll bar. made for driving around property or campgrounds only. no ATV off roading. Also, only RWD ATV so more simple.
@@tedus9773 It goes into the MIG torch outlet facing back towards the drive rollers when using steel wire with the steel torch liner instead of the ally liner it comes with 👍🏼
Yeah mate, I would definitely do all the main long welds with double pulse MIG. It’s just so much quicker. You would still need a TIG for the finer areas where you need to finesse the weld a bit more. The MIG is great but you can’t put heat in without adding wire so it isn’t suitable for some areas.
Yeah QLD is pretty similar mate. It’s pretty ridiculous that I can take a registered car or motorbike everywhere but not a SXS even if I get rec rego 🤷🏻♂️
That’s a shame my partner and I are moving up to qld this year. Was hoping we could follow your build and get a side by side and explore. In your opinion is it worth getting one or just stick to bikes? I also need your letter explaining to the misso. I need to be in the shed building. can you use your degree and change it from watching to me in the shed building lol. Love the channel and the podcast you did with Tommy and cam
I still much prefer the buggy over the two wheel bikes. Literally just sold my Husky 501 cuz it hurts too much falling off 😂 much more family friendly with the buggy
It’s a great machine at the price point. Love mine. Bit of a learning curve working out the settings. I recommend going into advanced synergic for double pulse. Just to custom set your balance, low current and frequency. I use single pulse and a back step mainly. I just find it easier. Set up your hot start and crater fill. Mate you won’t look back.
Nice video Kenny, looks a very cool unit. You will have lots of fun with that mate. I was looking at the same unit, but now thinking of going 3 phase as I have 3 phase in the shed. Thanks for taking the time to share. Cheers
All these 270 awnings are pretty hefty, but yeah you can mount it to the roof rack as long as it’s solid enough. One like a Rhino Rack or Frontrunner with the aluminium extrusions would hold it easily.
Easy to get an F26 flexi head and swap it out. Also there is a second white plastic collar especially for those large gas diffusers which keeps everything nice and tidy and insulates the diffuser all the way up. That gap you were talking about is live when you push the button so not the right way to run those big ones. Been running Tig gear professionally for over 40 years and never had an issue cooking torches. Great info on this welder though so thanks for taking the time to post it as I’m sure lots of guys and girls will pick up useful tips from it.
Thank you! You inspired me to design a rack in illustrator, buy the metal and make my own. It cost less than $200 and is better than anything I could buy (or afford).
Hi, I really enjoyed your video and congratulations on your impressive setup! I hope your trip to Cape York was both fun and safe. I own a Prado myself and have been considering installing a rooftop tent. However, after watching a few videos about roof load limits, I’ve had second thoughts. The Prado has a dynamic roof load limit of 100kg, and it appears that your setup might exceed that. I’m curious to know how this is working out for you. Have you encountered any issues due to the extra weight? Thanks in advance
Hey mate, this setup was only temporary to do a cape York trip. Regardless of that, I didn’t have any issues. The rooftop tent is now off the Prado and going back on my toy hauler trailer.
Last time I did it I had no issues at all. Just be prepared for any basic issues. Take spare fuel filters, air filter, basic tools, etc. I highly recommend the RACQ Ultimate cover. It’s only like $300 and saved me around $8000 in the towing costs to get the Prado home 👍🏼
I always worry about breakage in high winds and heavy precip. Seems like they're built to break when you need them the most, even the nicer ones. Open quick, like a parasol, if you're lunching in the middle of summer. That's a nice feature. Same for a light rain without too much wind. But I need to see more reviews under harsher conditions. Been thinking about a half of a Quonset hut, i.e., a quarter cylinder with a simple tarp with some loops sewn in to hold the ribs in place. Basically make a covered tunnel.
@@Kenny_Bthanks for the great video - I just bought a new 2023 UForce 1000 and still waiting for the weather to clear here in Nova Scotia Canada for the first trip out - a lot of knocks on how jumpy the clutch and your video did not seem to indicate any issues - I think the muscle memory will help once I get used to it
I think most of those comments are from people that don’t understand what a CVT transmission is like. I’ll probably get the clutch upgrade done using the kit from RNG but I’m not really in a rush to do it.
G’day mate, thx for the video. I have a little experience with a migraine machine, getting there slowly! Am keen to tig weld aluminium and this machine looks right, there is one for sale at half price second hand and would like your opinion: would this suit someone with no tig experience and only going to weld small to medium thicknesses??
Hey mate, yeah it’s a great all round machine. Due to it having HF TIG it’s great for new starters instead of the ‘lift TIG’ standard option. Makes it easier to start a weld. I have welded 6mm with mine but that’s at max output. Normal 2/3/4mm it does great.
Hey mate, yeah no issues at all so far with them. It made a big difference offroad getting the wheel track wider so i can use the side of the tyres to climb out of ruts and the extra ground clearance is great. I was worried about how the wheel bearings would cope with the extra pressure, but no issues so far.
Watched to the end, pissed myself laughing and hit the pisscribed button. Kings has got a bit outta me too with my 200 series build. Watched your awning vid too…not sold yet on whether I should go kings. Glad I found ya channel.
Thanks mate 😂 Kings gear is ok but it depends what it is. My drawers are fine. Had them for years. I can’t seem to break the awning. Their electrical gear like the first gen DCDC charger wasn’t real flash though
I have the Tourer X on my car as well (rooftop tent) and the brackets weren't compatible at all. I ended up having to move the tent off centre so it opened without hitting the awning, and also get 3 brackets from Bunnings, rated 50kgs each, that would fit under the tent. Bit of flex on those brackets, but it does the job. Recently bought the awning walls to go with it. The weight of all 4 walls bends the brackets a fair bit so I have a tent pole under one of the awning arms to hold it up.
Hi Kenny, thanks for the great info on the uforce, I'm really enjoying it and I think you've convinced me to purchase one, just curious what the fuel consumption is like, and how has the machine gone whilst towing as this is something that I will be doing I think about 600 kg, thanks again mate
