In this weeks video, I fit my new Drifta Desert Cruiser side-opening roof top tent, make custom brackets to fit my Kings 270 freestanding awning in preparation for Cape York 2023.
Good stuff 👍🏼 I have the 1.2 tent with just the normal mattress and we store a dooner, blanket and two pillows as well you might be surprised what you fit up there
Hi, I really enjoyed your video and congratulations on your impressive setup! I hope your trip to Cape York was both fun and safe. I own a Prado myself and have been considering installing a rooftop tent. However, after watching a few videos about roof load limits, I’ve had second thoughts. The Prado has a dynamic roof load limit of 100kg, and it appears that your setup might exceed that. I’m curious to know how this is working out for you. Have you encountered any issues due to the extra weight? Thanks in advance
Hey mate, this setup was only temporary to do a cape York trip. Regardless of that, I didn’t have any issues. The rooftop tent is now off the Prado and going back on my toy hauler trailer.
Hey mate, the Drifta RTT went really well. Pretty happy with it. Obviously something like a Bush Company RTT for be more premium but so is the price. The mattress update make a decent improvement, but it means that you pretty much can't leave any bedding in it or it's pretty trick to close the latches. Throwing the bedding down and putting it in a cheap bedding bag from eBay is pretty easy to do.
Hey mate, the roof top tent is a Drifta Wild Land and the mattress upgrade is an extra option available from them on their website. Just google Drifta and their website will come up.
@@Kenny_B Awesome! I hear that once you go there you just end up itching to go again. LOL. I cannot wait to make the epic trip myself but, yeah, its a bloody LONG way from BrisVegas.
