Thank you for this explanation. To clarify my confusion...if I am installing a new actuator into the rear diff. With the old unit removed and unplugged. Slide the toothed lever in the diff all the way to the passenger side to lock the rear end and then make sure the new unit is indexed at 12:30. Before plugging in the new unit and reinstalling, do I want to engage the rear diff lock switch (with the truck in 4-Lo), then turn the power off and connect the new unit. Install, and turn the truck on, then disengage the switch to unlock the rear end? Also, is it easy to turn the gear on the actuator if it is not indexed properly? This is for a 5th Gen 4Runner.
Hi, Aaron. Anything posted since this one? We did a Rockies and E. TX loop this fall - where I blew the engine on my Toy Jeep. Towed it back home behind our RV and then grabbed a remanufactured engine and all pumps. Ready to go visit some adopted wild mustangs in Oregon next
Great video ,help me understand why my deferential was lock since it has been rebuilt. Finally I got it unlocked as seen in the video, turning in to the right fully on my FJ 2012. Thank you for sharing.. ❤
Glad you checked it out and had a great time. I was stoked when I found it that day after meeting you at The Wall, and also ended up spending a few nights there. Managed to pack up, go wheel, and return each evening without anyone seeming to know it was there. Got to hear quite a few rockfalls echo through the gorge while kicking back at the fire or laying in bed, which was awesome. Maybe we'll cross paths again somewhere out west 🤙
very nice video. . I noticed due to some problem your videos are not reaching most people. As a result according to your channel, your channel videos are not viewed, liked, or subscribed.
When you insert the actuator on the locked slider bar of the diff mechanism, PLEASE tell me if the actuator you inserted also on lock position gears, and the lock switch also was pressed on “ locked position ”?
A long way from Philadelphia’s suburbs. we came close to crossing paths with you. in late September we left our Las Vegas home, towing my built up TJ behind our RV. Through the NorthRim area, 4 corners, and Durango. Sadly blew the TJ’s engine (badly) on Wolf 9:29 Creek Pass. Limped through TX into Biloxi before taking a beeline path home to drop the Jeep.
Beautiful area, nice job. The music is gret too. Can I ask how to download the music? I went to the RU-vid videos but was unable to see a download link. Thanks for any tips.
Toyota uses a special body grease that conducts electrical current. It is exspensive and hard to get so I used Carbon Conductive Grease. This grease allows the current to pass through, and was cheap.Timing is critical, my VX-80 has a different style to what you are displaying. Another problem they have is the magnets falling off the can. I cleaned the can, used ice cream sticks to space magnet & good loctite super glue to stick magnet back in place.
Nice video showcasing the landscape and the GX's capability. I am sure you knew that you lost some of your tent poles around 5:30 in the vid. We got the 3way front and back from Dobinson with the long travel in the back and beefed up springs due to steel bumpers and towing an off-road trailer. This does help to compensate for different loads and terrain responses, but looks like the IMS did a great job. Oh, our gas indicator is also off, sometimes by as much as 1/2 tank. Found out that with the Torque app and setting it up with the correct size tank it is infinitely more accurate than the sending unit of the truck. I get miles to empty, remaining fuel and AVG/instant MPG that is much more accurate. I've tested this now over 4000 miles and was always within 0.5-1 gal of the estimate of fuel left when I filled up.
