Hai! I am Monika and I am a third year med student! I am going to be talking about medicine, mindfulness, minimalism and everything in between on this channel!
Feel free to leave suggestions and if you have any questions!

yes true I thought medicine was the hardest end all be all subject in all the world and life. turns out its very simple. its the health care system that is dilapidated, corrupt, dysfunctional, and run by a bunch of money sucking nepotism psychopaths.
Watching this as an aspiring medical student, I truly appreciate the honest advice. It's refreshing to hear real insights on improving MCAT scores. Thanks for keeping it real
Hi beautiful, hey, so will work experience in the field, along with the prerequisets make for a stronger application over someone who does not have work experience but went to a strong pre med program ?
I think it’s so depressing thinking about how med school and the medical field in general, just beats the students down with so much dread, fear and anxiety throughout the study years. I’m going to apply for med school (transitioning from years in tech) and it’s crazy how stressed everyone is around me. Maybe a video on why the medical field gate keeps so much 😂
Happy to see you are doing well! Don't forget to touch some grass while you study. For what it's worth, I found Step 2 to be a lot easier than Step 1. Is Step 2 also pass/fail these days or do you get a numerical result?
Awww this is so sweet!!! And the apartment is so beautifullll I can't believe they put so much effort and thought into decorating and designing it with the whole elegant and chic style!!!!! 💗💗💗💗💗💗
You really can pick any major as a premed which is the best part! If it's something in science - biochem or chem are always good because you are going to be doing quite a few classes in that as part of your premed requirements. A lot of people also do psychology! But if you are interested in anything else not science related that is nice as well because you can take a break from all the science you are doing!
this is a great video!!! I am a senior in high school. Not sure if you will see this because you posted it 3 years ago lol, but instead of just majoring in bio could I double major with bio as one of them? Or have a concentration? I am planning on majoring in biochem, but if i double majored would it actually be worth it/ or med committees reviewing my application see it as bland even though there is another major also to add I plan on going to a top med school and not sure if they look for double major, I got into a great school but can't afford it so i will just be going to my state university
I think you have to decide on why you want to double major - if there is another subject you really want to learn more about or to make your application more competitive. If it is the latter, I don't know how much double majoring will help with that just by itself. Ultimately, I think the strongest applicants have very strong narratives and clearly defined out 'why' they ended up pursuing what they did. I hope that helps!
just wanted to say I'm in my m1 year and I remember watching your mcat videos back when I was struggling with mcat prep - they were so helpful and I am so glad that you're posting again!! thanks for sharing your perspectives about life as an M3, it seems so different from preclinical years and I appreciate the insight, even this early in the game!
Going from a tech background to now seriously considering med school (my current masters program has a few physician profs who are really pushing me to go to med school) and being worried about the fact that I may not be good enough to study/memorize and stress like a med student lol Your videos are a good start for me to think about what kind of life I may get myself into, mad respect!
@@monikabapna I would be fascinated to hear what the financial situation looks like for going to med school as a whole. I’ve already pulled loans for BS/MS and now possibly MD so it would be interesting to see how you went through that journey, thanks!
hello mam great video ! i needed some help regarding international medical student in usa.... ik the usmle pathway but i was rather thinking of taking pre med course... will that be a good descision if live in india currently ?
I am not sure if I am the best person for questions about international students but typically most US medical schools require that your premedical course work is done in the US!
I like physics too! My #1 advice is to talk to your premed advisor, they can go over a 4 year plan with you that will cover all of the classes you need. (if your school doesn’t have one there are free ones online) That said, it’ll be more difficult, I majored in psychology and even though psychology is basically 1/4 of the MCAT, I’ve been studying nearly full time for ~ 6 mo to get to my goal score. I’d encourage you to go for physics! But remember that the medical stuff is really important knowledge
hey monika, super helpful video! i was wondering what you thought about how to begin approaching practice questions in Uworld. would you start with just a few sets at a time? timed or untimed? review during or after? did you make your review sheets even during this period, or only once you felt you had a good grasp of the platform and your schedule? let me know!
Mice are a nightmare. I went to uni in Boston and rented an apartment my freshman year. The first two months were great. I thought I was lucky, finding a nice place near my campus. As winter came, so did the mice. I'd hear them scurrying along every once in a while, always at night. They quickly became embolden, coming out during the day. One day I brought back a pizza from a local pizzeria. I sat down in the living room and quickly ate half of it. Stuffed, I put the half-eaten pizza box on the kitchen counter. I then used the bathroom. After coming back into the kitchen, I put the pizza box in the fridge. The next day, I came home after spending 12 hours on campus, excited to eat my left-over pizza. When I pulled the pizza out, I heard a noise coming from the box. At first, I thought it was from the remaining slices moving around. To my horror, when I opened the box, there was a mouse trapped inside. Somehow, in the few minutes I was away, a mouse managed to get into the box before I put it into the fridge. It instantly ruined my appetite.
