Not that I'm aware of. The multiple throttle cables all run through the ASR unit, so if they created a work-around, it's unlikely you would be able to find a cable that was the proper length to make the system functional again.
I have a 540 ci industrial version of this motor.plan to stroke and bore it to 621ci with conventional top end had to relocate some head bolts but not too bad
Hi, I own a 1991 Ferrari Mondial T which uses exactly the same system for suspension control like FX3. I need to troubleshoot my system but Ferrari does not give any literature. I see that you have a very detailed manual with trouble codes etc. So, the question is how could I get that part of the manual regarding only FX3 system? Could you help me on that?
Hi Aris, the manual I am referencing is the Factory Electrical Service Manual Supplement. They're available from vendors on eBay and can be purchased for around $50.
Sorry . . . . I just can’t watch eight or minutes of a car guy calling an internal combustion engine a motor. It’s an OCD thing I had to eject at 3:31.
Oh boy here come the "but a new xx blah blah ricer pos makes".... Guess what! this is a shocker but gramma was a better looker and lay when she was 20 and had teeth!
Hello ! I would like to ask of the community . My pedal gets hard time to time. I have a new accumulator. I hear a little click and soon after the abs light turns on and the pedal goes hard . Anyone had this problem on a Mark VII LSC ( 1986 is my model ) ? I would really appreciate if someone could give me a tip of where the problem can be from and what piece should I change and order. Thanks a lot in advance !
Hey Sam, I'm not sure how you would integrate the computer controls from the aftermarket system with the TPI due to how simplistic the processing speed of the TPI is. Also, the unique design of the intake runners and manifold may not match up very well with the programming of the aftermarket system.
I have this engine with the 5 speed Allison transmission in my 2004 Fleetwood class A motor home. It's a 32 footer and weighs in at around 21000 pounds. Fully loaded with everything including the kitchen sink and pulling a Toyota camery it gets almost 8 MPG and never misses a lick. Strong and dependable, and in my opinion the best non diesel engine ever put in a class A. The Ford Triton V10 is more popular in the older rv's like mine but you have to push them above 4500 rpm to make the power the 8.1 makes at 3200 rpm. I also like the idea of an all cast iron assembly instead of the aluminum heads on a cast iron block like the Ford. If you are thinking of buying an older class A and have a budget of around 25k the Vortec Workhorse chassis is the way to go.
My car runs great, however when it’s hot out and I’m in traffic, the idle goes up and down, and the car wants to move l have to hold it down, lately it’s been turning off!
Hey Arthur, It sounds like you have something going on for sure, but the symptoms you're describing are pretty non-specific. I would recommend taking it by a trusted shop to hook it up to a scanner to see what's going on in real time.
I had a formula 350 88 it had full posi not limited slip motor had alot of work done pulled 10.7 to 11.3 on a quarter loved that car I was clocked at 150 and as the chp said was accelerating fast any way got sick of putting money into the LT1 so I sold it but miss it greatly was a fun car ate gas and tires like nothing
I have a 96 coupe lt4. It's been rebuilt, torqhead conversion and coil packs. C6 ecu. Brand new pilot sport as4, corsa exhaust. Torch red, or please arrest me officer red. Just did the weather stripping. 67k miles. She was a single owner car, garage kept all her life. I'm having an absolute blast driving it.
Clogged between condenser and radiator with leaves, needles etc will cause high temps. Replace stock radiator with aftermarket with increased cooling. Fans come on at 226, off at 215. Since new radiator our 89 hasn’t kicked the fans on since.
I have a 1993 Anniversary ZR1 corvette that I paid $3800 for, that was sitting behind a building, close to the Pacific Ocean, that is in neglected condition! The stereo doesn't work, and I suspect the CDM. I can see some water/corrosion damage.
Every time I watch a video about the LT1 and they start talking about 5 or 6 K RPM and still pulling I question it not that it won't do it but I don't think I ever had my 92 over 3500 I guess I am just a pussy lol. Really I have just put so much time and money into it I don't have any desire to beat on it. PA the opti is not very difficult it just takes a little time to remove everything which is not much different to cars made today .
Yep, the LT1 has a very broad, flat torque curve across the RPM range until around 6000 as opposed to the L98 that had more grunt down low below 3500. With the 4 bolt mains in the Corvette LT1's it's hard to hurt them unless you're aiming to bounce it off the rev limiter all the time😁
I am looking at purchasing a 1996 LT4 with low miles, original owner, and he has experienced a soft code on the ASR. The code is 0065 and he hasn’t been able to clear it. It stays lit on the info center. He has looked at all the wiring to the front left wheel area as that where it says it is, but cannot find anything in particular. Can you please help with this as I would like to proceed on the sale!? Thank you!
When you put the new distributor back in, how does it key so you have the same timing as you had when you pulled it? It didn't look like the stub gear had a tab on it.
I have an 81 Corvette with a new battery. Has been starting no problem all summer until last week. No electric. Had battery on trickle charger and displayed battery as fully charged. Went to turn ignition and even in accessory mode there's no power of any kind. No dome light, footwell light radio, nada. Not sure where the issue is but wish me luck
Hey Terry, it depends on quite a few factors like the type, location, and extent of the damage of the car. With that being said, over the 25 years I've been by buying them, I paid as little as $0 up to $15,000.
Excellent video. I run a 402 in my 39 Chevy coupe and a 454 in my 55. 454 in my brothers 48 Chevy coupe. I first fell in love with the bigblock back in the early 70s when I found out that our Spanish student teacher had one in his 56.
Oh yea, back in the day when BBC's prowled the streets like the Alphas that they were😁. It's all about the sound of those 11 to 1 pistons hitting with that solid lifter cam through a barely muffled exhaust👍.
The key to TPI is no vacuum leaks, and proper sensors all working correctly. THEN you can consider the typical mods….larger throttle bore or larger runners for intake…then typical small to medium bore headers. But still you have the L98 heads to deal with…. If you can wrap your mind around 3500-4500 max rpm the L98 TPI engine is for you
There is actually THREE ports on the plenum with the MAP sensor. With the rear one going to the MAP sensor its self. But just seeing it in the video was enough to figure it out. Thanks
Actually the Buick nail head is the longest production run V8 . When GM stopped using them they sold the design rights to rover and were used into the 2000 teens.
Wasn't sure about needing a new radiator cap, but one is going to be delivered today and I am happy now after your info that I ordered it. I noticed the older one had crap around the spring etc so it has to go!
2005 big block with Allison trans has a 6th gear lockout, you can buy a kit to utilize the overdrive gear. The intake manifold is baffled down to a small opening along with a small MAS change and replace these gain nice power and torque
