In today's video, I'll be taking the initial steps to verify that the 425 Big Block Engine in the 1966 Toronado project car will turn over by hand.
Watch as I use Marvel Mystery Oil, a syringe, and a breaker bar to see how things look after the car has been sitting for many years.

It is incredibly nice. Probably the nicest sheetmetal I've seen on an almost 60 year old project car. You should see the underside. The garage storage definitely helped it👍.

That vehicle appears to be in prime shape. Hope you don’t have any unforeseen problems with it.

Hey Rusty, it is a nice original old car. So much so that I seriously doubt I'm going to do much other than attempt to get it running and detailed. It just shows the quality coming out of the Oldsmobile division in the 60's. I think the hard-core Olds guys are on to something👍.

Hey John, I made this video about 3 weeks ago when I had just finished up with the last of my medical treatment, so I still wasn't back to 100%. I've been slowly reacclimating myself to our South Texas heat so I can start getting caught up on my to-do list. Thanks for checking with me, I appreciate it👍.

You should not be able to do a full rotation being the spark plugs fitted and the cilynders full of that mistery oil. Are you sure you have good compression? What's that internal"dripping" sound at 17:00, is it that mistery oil going down in the pan trough the rings?

What I forgot to mention in the video is that I didn't tighten the plugs all the way in so I could rotate the engine a full 360 degrees and allow the pressure to escape without blowing the Marvel Mystery Oil all over the place. The Marvel is a thinner viscosity than oil, so that was the dripping sound you heard as some of it escaped past the rings. My main objective was to ensure it would rotate and listen for compression to make sure the valves were seating, which I could hear but may not have been audible on the video. It was also a way to coat the cylinder walls since it had been sitting and dry for so long. Once I get the starter and a compression gauge installed, I'll be able to verify if the engine still has proper compression and whether or not I'll need to replace the head gaskets.
