Find out what it's like to travel by train or plane across Australia - and beyond. This channel is dedicated to showcasing travel by rail and air. It features train and plane reviews, documenting both the onboard experience as well as what you'll see along the way, with facts and figures about the journey and local towns and landmarks. My name is Adam Joyce. I'm based in Adelaide, Australia and film using a GoPro Hero 8, GoPro Hero 10 and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Constructive feedback is welcome. This channel was previously named "Aus Flight Channel" but has been renamed "From the Window Seat" to better reflect the type of videos I make.
excited for my visit soon to NZ. Thanks for all your videos about scenic train. Just got some insights and preview of the journey. Keep it up Adam, you're doing a good job!!
Watching this in 2024 missing the Australind train because they decided to close the train line between Perth and Armadale to make some major changes including removing all level crossings and building a few new stations including the Byford station that has been removed from the Australind line and added to the Armadale line
Lovely trip, funny enough in February my partner and I did Tokyo-Sendai-Tokyo in Green class. All in one late afternoon to make use to the max of our JR Pass' last day. As usual, Adam thank you for sharing your trip :)
Love your videos my friend! And I saw you a couple of weeks back… fittingly enough heading down in to Adelaide railway station. 🙏🚝 We Adelaide RU-vidrs need to stick together! 😊
boring ride as i foun d out takes big bucks real big rode all trains free had unlimited rail pass sundowner ghan overlander this clipin the thousa nds of $$$
What is happening now to the Sydney to Brisbane XPT. I understand that the XPT is not able to come into Brisbane central station at certain times due to congestion. I am told it stops in a depot or siding on the outskirts of Brisbane and then there is a coach ride into the city centre is this still true.
The XPT is timed to avoid the morning peak … so has to arrive (4:50am) and depart in the extremely early hours. For a while, it couldn’t reach Roma Street because of Cross City Rail works but that was only temporary/intermittent.
There is real potential for this Line if Queensland Railway upgraded the line made it overhead electric all the way and even thought about making it standard gauge it’s potential for a good high-speed line along this route which would make the journey from to Townsville and Cairns much more competitive with flying. in some parts of Australia they are investing heavily in rail infrastructure but yet again it seems Queensland is going at it in a very half hearted way.
Beaut video Adam. I’m a long time subscriber but first time commenter! Does the Spacia X have any connection to Elon Musk or is the name just a bizarre coincidence? Cheers.
I did this journey when it was the Sunlander. In fact, I think there were two trains at that time, the Sunlander and the Queenslander. The Queenslander had both standard and first class carriages. I think it was a better journey with a loco and carriages as you had a nice big lounge car, with your food in a dining car. Similar to that on the Indian Pacific before it became a hotel Train.
Great video as usual. Makes me ill watching this as I endure the 1972 vintage V set travel between Woy Woy and Hornsby in around 40 minutes with no internet at around 45 kilometres per hour up the hill toward Cowan again. And as I have for 30 years
I think I got it right in the voiceover but my shots at the start and end were recorded on site (with my typical Australian pronunciation ) so it was too late to fix. This is all part of learning. Yes, I make mistakes but I’m only human. 🤷
Such a great journey, Adam. Thanks for the information about travelling on this amazing train. I was going to say that it couldn't get any better, and then I saw the train you're going to travel in for your next video. 😍
another excellent video Adam. currently watching with my saturday morning coffee - the best! can’t wait to make it to japan one day and experience these trains for myself. in the meantime i will live vicariously through your videos haha
It's very slick and plush. Weird that the power sockets looked a bit manky though. Also weird that people have to touch the loo door lock before going outside to wash their hands.
