@@donnyengell8470 RR13 B1 is certainly great but it is no match for RR15 IMHO. Honestly I dont think rr13 b1 is significantly better than b2, thry are same ballpark based on a couple of recent tastings.
Snagged two from a random shop after hitting my local, they got a third. In a raffle at a few stores for two more. Currently gonna sit on these two for a while before cracking em. I’m on the newer end of whisky enthusiasts and want to develop a solid palate before burning into my heavy hitters.
I pulled the plug on this whisky yesterday. On the nose I got a strange note of leprosy mixed with regurgitated guts. The palete was like licking an open casket and it made me choke on it a bit. The finish was sorta symbolic but overall it was a spiritual healing 🥃 Getting hold of Springbank these days is a real perennial quest if you’re only human
Interesting comparison… congrats on getting batch 25 and first to review I believe. I have last years 54.1% and it’s probably my least favorite of last few releases… still not really connecting with it… but seems you prefer it to the newest batch 2024… so it would probably be an easy pass for me especially considering the $$$. Found North is killer good - I'm lucky enough to have Batch 8, Batch 9, Peregrine, and Hell Diver - all stellar pours. Really really love this brand and wish they would stay under the radar......
My preference is the Dewat’s 21! I’m not usually a lover of blends but this is lovely! Far preferable to the other. It’s not bad but not as good as the Dewar’s!! Terrific video!!
I'm flying to Glasgow in about a month and I plan on bringing back this one from the airport. I think in Aberlour know how to craft good whisky when they want, sadly the really good ones are hard to reach.
It's a mix of the species of oak, the density of the oak, and the density is due to the weather/moisture levels there. So you're spot on with what makes this so good! They say ain't nothin sweeter than a Georgia peach...but the bourbon is pretty close! LOL
I in advertently caused a shit storm at the store. I bought my back up C9 23. It wasn’t supposed to be on the shelf and I happened to see it and snatched it right away. It was literally as I’m walking out when the manager came up and said that one bottle wasn’t supposed to be on the shelf and it was promised to someone else and now they were going to have to break the bad news to some unfortunate soul. I did feel sorry for the guy, he didn’t know. But I kept walking…
You bought it from the shelf fair-and-square. It was poor customer service (to you!) for the manager to approach you after the fact, and try to guilt you out of it. Good on ya for keeping it.
I actually just picked up a bottle yesterday. I was really disappointed. It tasted very average. There’s a ton of bourbons better for the money. Skip A124, you’ll regret the purchase.
Friendly tip - you need to make it easier for the viewer to understand the final ranking - you rushed through the last 2 and couldn't understand which was which. I'm a massive 4R fan - love all these LE's and tasting all the 10 recipe single barrels is the fun of 4R!
Btw I also prefer it to the c923 or at least stands up to it. I’m actually kind of happy C923 was so hyped up because people will die on that hill defending it and allow us to buy up all of this batch 😂
Just found you after watching Social SIpper's. Great content. Also, I am crazy jealous you can get these. Sadly, though I am in Canada, I cannot purchase these. Not sure which one I would prefer, but these sounded really, really good.

The 25 has been called the "best value in an old Scotch" on the other hand I tend to agree with you that the peat overshadows the malt so the age really becomes a non-factor. Laphroaig seems to get pushed aside on the Tube a bit but I think the brand is doing well cruising in the marketplace. Sure the ten is watereed down and can't compete with the integrity of the Ardbeg10. But the Cairdeas releases are more affordable. Unfortunately the 2024 is over $100 now, so that's sad but the CS always shows up for about $85. The rest of the core range is superfluous IMO even though people do like the Lore and Quater Cask. I just picked up another bittle of Warehouse 1 for $50. Obviously,the market has trashed it but... I think we are spoiled for choice with peat. I'd like to find a Ancnoc 24 for a decent big number and in the meantime it'll be teenagers and maybe a 21 here and there.

They’re all extremely good, I can barely differentiate them. At the last four roses tasting, I did with Brent Elliot. The poor of the night was a 2011 store pick 0ESV 12 year Can’t go wrong with any of the limited additions in my opinion Solid video guys
