In episode 70 of Whisky in SV, I did a blind tasting of Michter's Cask Strength Ryes. Despite the fanfare, I never really thought too highly of last year's release and I was skeptical whether it is worth trying to hunt it down again this year. Well a good friend shared a sample of this year's release with me and I put it up in a blind against last year's release. I concluded that while this year's release does indeed seem better, there is just some vegetal note in there that I personally do not enjoy much. As a bonus, I also tried the Michter's 10 Year Rye next to these and concluded that I significantly prefer it to both of these. However, overall, I think Michter's is generally overpriced for the experience it delivers and the only one I have ever bought that I thought was worth the money was the 10 Year "A barrel" bourbon from 2023. #whiskyinsv • #WhiskyInSV 070: Micht...
