I’ve changed my autopilot but I have to continue to pray for new desires. Make healthy food habits and look at food as nourishment. Thanks for the motivation.
I ran in my 50s and then had to stop due to plantar fasciitis. Despite years of treatment including surgery, the pain always returns if I spend too much time on my feet including walking. I'm now 64, and the lack of exercise has caused weight gain. I am vegan, and have a healthy diet. I would love to feel well enough to go on walks or jogs, however, no thanks to walking with a heavy backpack. I think your goals are way beyond my capabilities.
Good morning Dr Marbas. Unfortunately concentrating on breathing does not work for me, I actually find it too intense and triggering. I understand this is quite common - BBC Radio London used to do meditation and it started with breathing and lots of people phoned to sat it was helpful but an equal number of people reported that they found it triggering and creating even more anxiety, overawareness of body issues, so it;s not for me. If you could suggest anything else I would love to hear it. Thank you
Thanks for sharing. I would suggest using another sense to bring you into the present. Maybe focusing on a sound or object. I have a ring that wear that reminds me where I am and only can ever be which is the present moment.
I usually prefer something savory, so I shredded potatoes, celeriac, carrots, and extra firm tofu, added minced onion and spices, and spread it out on a cookie sheet to crisp up in the oven. Was just like hash browns without all the oil.
Sorry to say, but today's audio was more muffled than usual, which is normally on the poor side. I'd love to hear you better. If you listen to other channels like Plantchoppers, Mic the Vegan, Peter Attia, or High Intensity Health, you will immediately notice the superior sound quality. I'm no expert, but maybe it's just the particular microphone. Otherwise, thank you for all your content.
I eat all food except gluten lactose and seedoils. Now when you explain it so well I am going to try pesceterian and avoid all other meat such as red meat or chicken. Thanks for being so healthy oriented person ❤ even thoughts I dont know all the science facts I trust every word you deliver🫶
Thank you for this. I really want to get a DEXA scan to determine my muscle mass. I know it’s probably quite a bit higher than I want it to be but it’s something I will continuing to work on. It’s very helpful to me when you share your results. Also I would love you to do some workouts I find it very motivating. Thanks again for all you do.

Thank you for this vid. It sounds like a good plan. I sat down and planned out my week of meals and a shopping list and spent SO MUCHLESS and bought mainly produce. Yay me!❤ Day One of losing weight. 👍
Great content as always! You mentioned a cholesterol lowering protocol. Is it posted anywhere? I know of Portfolio diet, etc. and am always interested in learning different protocols!
Maybe Dr Marbas you shouldn't have the tofu if you need to cut down on fats, have a (sweet) potato instead with your legumes or a kabocha/butternut squash. Looking forward to your hypertension talks as my friend suffers from it so I've directed her to your channel. You're right, it's so important to be present and grateful, nothing is more precious than the moment we are living in right now, that's all we've got and can be sure of. Time is life, so I try not to let negative thoughts/people/feelings/events take up my time and take my happiness away. Time is love, our loved ones (people, animals) feel loved when we spend time with them, money is less important than time spent interacting with them, giving them attention, love and care. I regret being so busy running a small charity a few years ago because I was helping others but neglecting my family and companion animals so I try not to make this mistake again. I don't get angry but I let go of people who are negative and drag me down. Without sounding too gloomy, at 58 I'm realising more and more how finite our time is so I really want to look after my health and try to live a good life and be content for the little things.
Good morning Dr Marbas, this is really interesting, I wish I could afford a DEXA scan, I eat well but hardly sleep and have low energy levels. I eat very low fat because it's a constant fight with the creeping spare tyre around my middle even though I'm slim. Weather is London has been terrible since last September, yesterday 31st May was freezing, today 1st June there's a bit of sunshine so I'm hoping I'll be able to start moving and walking again. I have not done any exercises (weight/stretches) for months, I feel really bad about it and must get started again. Lack of sunshine really affects my motivation so here's hoping for a decent summer. I am wondering whether you are pushing yourself a little too hard, making all these changes in just a month? I was surprised about your fat percentage as you look very trim. Best of luck with your new eating/exercise routine. Thank you for all your content.
I lost over 60’pounds 20 years ago by mostly eating plant based, very little organic meat. I have blossomed up again. Switching to plant based again. I will, on occasion, have a burger, but few and far between.
My go to breakfast is usually a frozen smoothie I make at home and take with me to work. I've also made a grain fruit bowl: quinoa with frozen fruits and berries that have thawed by the time I'm ready to eat it at work - so yummy 😊
WFPB diet 3 months now, total cholesterol came down 34% in just 3 weeks (It had suddenly spiked, I blame perimenopause). I’m excited to get it retested soon. Unexpected benefits were MAJOR reduction in migraines & more energy + overall mood improvement… I was already a pretty happy person but I noticed a change :)
Even though I have been WFPB for years, I benefit from your videos to keep me on my path and improving choices based on science. Thank you for your work. Your dog being passed out on the bed is so soothing and calming 😊!
Do you suggest cholesterol medication for someone that has been on a Whole Foods plant-based diet for a couple of years and the LDL‘s are still at 130? I am waiting for genetic testing to come back but if it is genetic then would you personally suggest cholesterol meds?
This is a nuanced conversation but you should consider measuring a few different things like a CAC score, Lpa, Apo B, and hs-CRP and then looking at all your assessments determine what is best for you.
Very helpful - thanks! May I ask how many servings of soy do you eat per day? Did I hear correctly: 2 servings? Sounds good. If the choice between more soy or more omega-3's (chia/flax), which is better? I totally understand they're both great.... just wondering if, say, trying to get in 2 servings of soy, perhaps then less flax/chia, etc.?
Thanks for this. I have been doing WFPB for a while now. 40 yo. Labs perfect. Never felt a better relationship with food in my whole life. Then u hear voices on the internet saying you cant get real protein or other nutrition from plants. I think your tip on eating enough is the most important. When you eat mostly plants you have to really put down a lot of food. Its actually really awesome and heals overeating tendencies and cravings. I also have my iron checked regularly, my hemoglobin is always 14. Even plant based.
I recently found out I am gluten intolerant or allergic to gluten and I react to tree nuts which I never knew. Finfing out allergies can be a painstaking process.
Coffee is often thought to be dehydrating due to its caffeine content, but the reality is more nuanced. Caffeine and Hydration 1. Diuretic Effect: Caffeine is a mild diuretic, which means it can increase urine production and potentially lead to dehydration if consumed in large amounts. - Moderation: Moderate caffeine consumption (around 3-4 cups of regular coffee per day) does not significantly affect hydration status in most people. - Individual Variation: Sensitivity to caffeine varies; some individuals may experience more pronounced diuretic effects. 2. Decaf Coffee: Decaf coffee contains significantly less caffeine than regular coffee, typically about 2-5 milligrams per cup compared to 95 milligrams in a regular cup. - Reduced Diuretic Effect: The low caffeine content in decaf coffee means its diuretic effect is minimal, making it less likely to cause dehydration. - Hydration Contribution: Decaf coffee can contribute to your overall hydration. The water content in coffee, including decaf, helps maintain fluid balance.
Great videos! You've been so kind in answering recent questions I've had (either in videos or #shorts) and sharing such helpful details. Thank you, Dr. Marbas. (new sub)
