I'm starting out with the HX Stomp XL, which I've been loving so far apart from difficulties to get hot distortion effects, but I've hit a glitch. Every now and then the audio coming out of the pedal distorts and cuts out and then cuts back in while playing, almost like there's a bad connection in there. But it's intermittent, and it's definitely the pedal. I tore out all my cables, checked the violins and speaker, and all of those are fine. If I can't resolve this then the pedal is a brick, as I exclusively play live. Oh yes, this happens even when all the effects on the line are turned off. And also on an empty preset. The guy in the music shop is currently trying it with guitars to try to replicate the problem I demonstrated in the shop, but to no avail. He seems to think it might be an impedance issue. This would be odd as it misbehaves with both my violins. I'm presuming yours is an active pickup? Mine are: Merlin 5 string (like a Zeta but actually sounds like a real violin) - active pickups Violectra 5 string - passive pickups. I primarily bought it for the Violectra, but I can't progress - or buy your presets!! - until this is resolved. Do you have any ideas? Does this happen with other pedals?
Line6's customer service is amazing. Go to their website and open a support ticket. In my experience, they have been more than fair in covering their products when something goes wrong.
Wow Matt!! That is the first time I have heard you sing. You need to keep doing that! Also, that is exactly how I wanted to hear that song on the violin. Way to go! Your crunchy wahwah violin sound was dialed!
Hi Matt, I have the Line6 HX Stomp and the current software is 3.7. I would "assume" your patches would still be compatible, yes? Also have you added any additional patches over the last year? Thanks
This is so helpful, thank you! I've been playing for years but am just now digging into the theory so I can learn to improv. It's a slog! Your videos are short, sweet and packed with amazing and useful info! Thanks so much for putting this series out!
Thank you soo much for this. Ever since I heard Jean Luc Ponti in the 70's I have love electric violins. I just wish Doug Kershaw would have tried one. Again, Premium content my friend!!!
Hey Matt, if we are still saving up for a Helix... and we have a line6 pod go... would you be willing to sell presets for that?? 😍 (Playing a MarkWood 5-string Stingray pro)
It was written for electric violin and acoustic viola. Rudolf is playing an electric viola here, but it's a 6-string electric viola. It has a high E and a low F.
Nice job Matt! Ive only had one chance to play a Viper, would love to play one again. Also, keep posting and raising the profile of playing electric fiddle. I love that ive been able transition from acoustic to electric in nearly all my gigging. And my pupils all get regular opportunities to play mine and i offer sessions on using pedals and creating sounds with my pedalboard. I play a Bridge Aquila 4 string through the Boss Katana 2x12. Best regards from the (very cold) UK😁
Wow! Matt stational! You should have 10,000 likes This is inspirational for Electric violinist to be thinking about mixing the genres. As the instrument just begs to do, to bring together the past and the future. Playing a concerto on the viper is pretty inspirational as far as I’m concerned, sounds great!
When things go wrong it's how one reacts that's important. Great recovery on your part. Beyond that, your performance and posting it on RU-vid is the kind of thing that should inspire a large number of promising young violinists to aspire to learn this masterpiece.
One of four types of music plays in the background while I work: Chillhop, Jazz, Blues, or Classical. I would totally rather give you the plays/views and likes than some dweeb I never met before. Have you ever considered putting together a curated playlist of electric violin music that people can just listen to while they study or work?
Hey I just want to appreciate the quality that you put in everything. From your musical career to being an influencer on electric violin shop everything has a clear amount of care and love. And this song is just sooo good I wish I had heard it earlier. Great work man!
