Tohoku is made up of six prefectures: Aomori, Akita, Iwate, Yamagata, Miyagi, and Fukushima. Surrounded by the sea and mountains, it is full of rich nature where you can feel the changes of the four seasons. International flights arrive and depart from some of the local airports, including Sendai Airport, and it is also easily accessible from the city center by Shinkansen.
There are many events that attract large numbers of tourists, including the three major festivals in Tohoku: the Aomori Nebuta Festival (Aomori), the Akita Kanto Festival (Akita), and the Sendai Tanabata Festival (Sendai). There are many spots where you can experience Japanese history, such as shrines and temples, castle ruins, and museums. Local gourmet food unique to Tohoku also attracts tourists. I would be happy if I could share with you all the charms of the Tohoku region. Please come to Tohoku.
