Hi, and welcome to my Kate Word Art channel. You will see that I like to do lots of abstract, mixed media, collage with my own hand painted or printed papers. I especially love texture, hard edges, mark making and architectural, geometric intersections dreaming freely. I paint on canvas and cradle board, and I use a gelli plate for my printmaking.
I've been an artist since childhood after discovering the smell of my crayons. I studied fine art at Texas Women's University in Denton, TX, and I am a lifelong learner. Observation, exploration, and application find balance in my home studio in San Antonio, TX, where I moved after living on the coast for many years. I've lived well and traveled widely. I found Fulton’s videos around 2 months ago and bought my first Gelli Plates. I have really been enjoying watching and learning from him and he has inspired me to try it. I’m having so much fun just creating! His videos led me to your videos. There is so much potential with this process and I’m experimenting and starting to develop my own style.

Hi, I just discovered your videos, I'm really delighted with your technique. But I have a question regarding the base and the templates you use, what material are they made of and where can I get them? Thank you very much for sharing.
@imeldagalindo6897 hi , Imelda. The "base" is a 16x20" gelli plate that you can get from gelliarts.com. They have a smaller size 8x10 or 12x14 that you might consider starting with if you've not worked with the plates before. And there's the cost to consider, too. The templates are homemade masks & stencils that I cut from Manila file folders, which are temporary and fall apart easily. I recommend using plastic subject dividers from school supplies area or sheet protectors in office supplies. You can also get mylar sheets from Amazon. These are called masks. They are masking the gel plate from the color. A stencil has "holes" or the design is cut out allowing the color to go through to the gel plate.

First time watching you. Great work. Love the file folder stencil idea. How about coating them with mat medium first. Would that help with sticking and pealing? Just a thought.
There is a way to disable your autofocus so that the focus stays wherever you set it beforehand. Look in the menu on your camera to find something about autofocus. Thanks for your videos.
I just saw someone using the 18x24" plate a few days ago and the first thing I thought was does Fulton know about this. So, yesterday I saw that he did and had posted a video. Then I saw this video come up and I was so delighted since both of my favorite teacher/artists have something new to play with!!! Your print is wonderful and I can't wait to see more! Thank you for your question, @mandygoon. Currently, I have lots of flat files. Some prints are mounted to cradle boards and framed in contemporary floater frames. Some I cut up and use in collage greeting cards or collage on canvas. The large format prints are best stored flat, and when sold, are shipped rolled in a mailing tube. They can be framed under glass at the gallery for the potential collector's purchase. Hopefully, this answers your question. Peace 🌿
