As your wife stated, I believe that respect is number one and the second thing is, "never stop being the person you were when you first fell in love with each other". This goes for both the man and woman. Remember the things that brought the spark of love upon both of you, how you treated her, the things you did together, the way you acted, did you open doors for her, did you occasionally surprise her somehow, etc. So often once people are married they get so relaxed and turn into a completely different person and expect the relationship to last. This was a thoughtful discussion brothers. I believe that is very true, when you go far enough back with the naturalistic view of things, it doesn't even make logical sense. It's impossible. As AW Tozer said, something along the lines of, we don't have reality AND the unseen spiritual world. The spiritual world IS reality. I also think that, even though Christianity is evidence based, it's not blind faith. Ultimately, of some people evidence will never be enough, no matter how convincing. It comes down to a matter of the heart. For many, they suppress the truth, it's not that they don't understand it. I say that as someone who suppressed the truth in unrighteousness myself for most of my life. God had to let me come to the end of myself for we to call out to Him. Then He was right there eagerly awaiting me to align my will with Him and stop running from Him.

I'd say never buy a house in the Philippines in the wife's name if you can't afford to lose it all. Personally, I'd never reside in the Philippines because I don't like seeing litter strewn all over and people suffering from grinding poverty, which naturally makes people desperate. The amount of older men I've met that have been fooled into believing a young women there loves them is off the chart....it's not love, it's all about the money and security. It's like when men go there they leave their common sense back at home.
