Hi! I'm Laurel. I am the Chief Learning Officer of our homeschool. Our main educational philosophy is the Robinson Curriculum (RC). I augment with some additional subjects and resources that I have created and share about. I also share other simple homemaking strategies that help our homeschool flow more easily. From time to time I will share house projects as we are slowly renovating our 100 year old Folk Victorian home. I will show you how I simplify, organize, and strategize our home education. Follow along as we explore all things Christian family life, home, homemaking, homeschool, and enjoy life to the fullest.
Thank you for creating this Spelling resource and the reading material for me to get a better understanding of the English language. Somehow I feel like none this was taught to me or I just do not remember. I'm really trying to figure out how I can read and spell🤣 But nevertheless all your resources have made a beautiful impact in our homeschool.😃
Good idea. I'll give a more detailed update on everything when I have more to report. I feel like co-op isn't really my thing but the kids like it so I do it for them.
Hi , we love the Berean Builders science curriculum. My only complaint is that i can not do the experiments on every single lesson, so I would love for a RU-vid creator to do the experiments and have them available for us to watch 😂.
So many great tips in here, thank you! We are starting in the primer but I am using your older version first reader notebook. So far it’s all we need but I really appreciate the phonics tips in here! I’m taking notes😅
Been looking for easy readers, thank you for these flip throughs! I see RightStart on your shelf. I love RightStart! How did that math work for your family?
@@ashleymurphy4813 We do all like Right Start but it’s too time consuming. I was struggling to get to math for each kid each day with it being teacher-led so I switched curriculum for everyone. I am keeping it in hopes that we can do them in the summer or maybe as the boys get more independent in other subjects.
I have several kids with ADHD and yes memory is an ongoing struggle. I’m so impressed with how well he’s doing though! My 5th and 8th grader aren’t near that independent. My 8th grader also has ASD and she’s very delayed so I’m not sure she’ll ever be able to do much on her own but I’m praying my 5th grader will get there eventually!
Thank you for posting your video I enjoyed watching it. I have been looking into Berean Builders Science for my kids too and thought you might want to know that they have free printable worksheets on their website. If you click on the textbook in their shop then go to Product Resources you can find them there. Hope this is helpful. 😊
We love your channel! I have purchased the Mcguffy's workbooks and puzzles pdf. Where did you find the study arithmetic? I have searched thru ebay and thrift books.. I purchased grade 5. I downloaded Number Stories 1 and 2. I have not been able to find book 3 or 4.. My kiddo is in between Kg and 1st grade.... Thanks for all the great resources!
I feel you on the RightStart issue. I did with my first RS A-F, with my second I did A-D, with my third I did A-C. With my fourth I just started A. You see how that went. It was just 1 of me and 3 of them at one time. I just couldn’t do it. I was also going to university part time and training for my dyslexia tutor cert. It was impossible. I switched the middle kids to MUS and it’s gone really well. My oldest is doing Alg 2 + Trig with Foersters Algebra and Math without borders videos and it’s perfect. I actually like MUS. It has made math very didactic for my kids. I’m going to finish RS A with my 5 year old and move him to MUS. I did not like MUS Algebra but everything for the elementary and middle grades is just fine and can be done independently.
@@landofkakiakahomeschool and praying for your migraines! We have had a health crisis this summer (along with ADHD struggles) and so are embarking on a GAPS diet adventure. There’s a girl on RU-vid who said it cured her migraines as well: Wholeness Campaign is the name of her RU-vid channel.
I have been wanting to try to Berean books just not sure where to start or if it matters I’m not a science or history gal so I feel torn lol. I have a 4th grader
Praying for a speedy recovery for your hubby. Thank you for being my folding laundry buddy (it was a huge mountain!) & for the enjoyable music selections! I just love your homeschool room 😍Have a blessed week.
I love your story about homeschooling! Good for you- brave decision!! I was blessed to be surrounded by lots of homeschoolers I could learn from. But what courage it takes at the beginning! I’m with you though, it’s so precious to have that sweet time with the kids. You are figuring it out!
The books look great, but I think elementary science is fine to do for free as well. Library books work great. I split a spiral notebook into Life Science/Earth Science/Physical Science. The kids drew pictures of volcanoes in the EArth section, plant diagrams in Life section, Levers in Physical science, etc. So any books we read can fit into one of those 3 categories, then keep adding from year to year. We got some older textbooks someone set out on a FREE table at a homeschool group. They worked great! Nature studies could be added. So, those books look good, but also be encouraged you really need almost no curriculum to go forward from here & they can get a great education!!. My daughter in 11th had no problem with a college biology class- she knew how to read & learn and write!
Thanks for the update💛 Sounds like great start to your year 🎉 for your son and him working through Number Stories 3- is he in 3rd grade? I have Number Stories 1 and 2. Is book 2 okay with 2nd grade? Love hearing your homeschool journey!
He's in fourth grade but I think it's meant for 3rd grade. Yes, they were written to match the grade of their number but I don't worry too much about that. Just whatever they are read for. I'm currently doing book 2 with my first grader but not a full lesson each day. Probably half. I love these books!
@@alishaberrey4479 I stalked the internet until one popped up. I think it was eBay. Try looking for Study Arithmetics 3. I believe it’s the same book published under a different name.
@@landofkakiakahomeschool it sure is and samples aren’t much to really go off of. Thanks again for all your videos and time you take to help moms out like me. Blessings to all!
0:09 😌 I haven’t watched homeschooling videos in a loooong time. Your video popped up & I immediately smiled when you held up the science book. There’s something very satisfying about a pretty, sturdy, hard cover textbook.
I hope you enjoy your new books! Our children enjoy reading the Apologia books during quiet reading times...they tend to read them over and over and I think they remember more of them used that way. For group I definitely believe more variety is fun for everyone.
We absolutely love Berean Builders curriculum! (Berean as in the Bible… dig-in and research like the Bereans) 😊 On their website they have online class options, but they can be a bit pricey depending on what “pricey “ is for you
@@kcalhoun0580 the McGuffey readers include them. You may find them in a dictionary. I’ll look around and see if I can come up with a better answer and share in a video.
I am not great at language arts. Do you have a PDF copy of the answer key? I am not sure that I have the capacity to create my own at this moment in time. I have three neurodivergent learners and not a lot of time.
Praise the Lord for that provision- a big reimbursement! Good job saving it- that would be awesome if you can pay in full because they should give you a discount!
Thank you so much! I can't remember if the bookmarks were a freebie back when I made this video but they are available now in my Etsy shop. www.etsy.com/listing/1433494165/language-arts-bookmarks?click_key=62c90feff0c40c214634c3ee193c5da2f13d1308%3A1433494165&click_sum=4f4be049&ref=shop_home_active_1&crt=1&sts=1
