Hi I think when you say "original" you are referring to the 1st gen/version. That kamasu is Gen 2, which is also an original from Orient so with Gen 3.
Shaun -- i have a four year-old copy of this watch (a very early production) and have two things to add to your review. Mine has seen reasonably rough-and-tumble casual use wear since i prefer it over my Subby homage due to the lack of bracelet and general comfort & legibility. The good news is that my copy *still* shows no sign of PVD wear; Orient has really perfected those coatings i would say. The bad news is that mine required a service two years in with the crown stem coming out when i went to set the time. Orient USA charged me $90 to repair it, but they nicely regulated it when so doing. Overall it has been a great watch. -- gary ray
The problem with this watch is that it looks off-white or ivory in pictures, yet has a lot of gold tone in person. It’s not even champagne, but actual true gold & I absolutely dislike gold jewelry & watches.
I do prefer the Mako 40 due to the more classic and ergonomic size, but the Kamasu 2 comes in a close 2nd for their dial options :) Honestly never been a big fan of the Kamasu 1 dials.
Hello ... I just got this watch and the watch fits, but barely, I have a bigger wrist ... I would like an extra link, but when I contacted Orient USA they said they don't have extra links in stock anymore ... Does anyone have 1 extra link for this watch that they don't need? ... I would be willing to buy 1 link (and pin) off of someone who has this watch ... thanks.
I have 2 Kamatsu watches and one Mako, and find no fault with any of them. I only wish that Orient would offer slightly smaller versions, in the 38mm range. I have the Seiko Baby Alpinist at 38mm, and now find my 40-plus millimeter watches to be noticeably too big by comparison. If Orient put out 38mm versions of their line, I'd be an instant customer.
Is Orient Kamasu and Orient mako same or different. Plzz make me clear. There are mako 1,2 ,3 but side by side Kamasu is also written in mako. Plzzz clarify
@@ShaunSeahSG It's a sports watch anyway, and in this day of huge smartwatches being ubiquitous even with more formal office wear, it's ok :). I have friends smaller than me, and they sport big Panerais, and it really catches one's attention. Just saw your video on the Mako 3, that is one I want to get as well, thanks to you.
@@gritsteel4559 You’re absolutely right, nothing wrong with big watches as long as it makes you happy :) Glad the Mako 3 video was helpful to you too! :)
Absolutely agree about the Mako 1, I still wear mine on occasion too. Despite the outdated movement, it has a unique charm that makes it very hard to replace. Thanks for watching!
Hey thanks for checking in! Don’t worry I’m still around, I’ve just been going through several life changing events over the last 10 months, the good kind fortunately. I’m currently editing a new video and it should be out by this week :) Thanks for the encouragement!
This was exactly the review I was looking for to decide on the watch. I did purchase it on the Jomashop site and hoping not to have the "buyer's regret" as I have been comparing it with the Seiko Marine Master.
Some say the dial is too cluttered and that a field watch is "supposed" to have a simple dial but i personally love all the info displayed, I do wish it came with sapphire glass instead of mineral, but understandable for the price.
The main difference is that this Kamasu has a sapphire glass crystal while the Kanno has a mineral glass crystal. Apart from that and the looks will be the size in which the Kanno is a larger size than the Kamasu. If you have smaller wrists then I recommend going for the Kamasu. If you have larger wrists you could consider the Kanno however just take note that it does not have a Sapphire crystal :)
@@ishantsoni4748 Apart from the design, the main difference is size with the mini triton being bigger and having quite a substantial lug to lug length. Specs are pretty similar between the two. I love the mini triton but you'd need a big enough wrist to pull it off due to the lug to lug length which I unfortunately do not have.
I can understand that from a brand perspective. The Seastar 2000 is really great, just always wished it were small enough to fit my wrist. Thanks for watching! :)
Hi great review thanks! I need to buy one orient watch but I am confuse btwin Ra- aa000810nb and RA- AA000819 can you please sugest which one is good. Or I should go with Kamasu. Not able to choose one this is my first diver watch
They're both practically the same watch, just with a different dial design. The 819 with the arabic numerals arguably has a more well sized crown but is practically identical otherwise. I'd personally go with the 810 as it feels a bit more formal to me than the 819 but you won't go wrong with either :)
@@ishantsoni4748 If you're referring to the difference between RA-AA0810N19B and RA-AA0810N, as far as I know they are the same model just that RA-AA0810N is the shortened model number.
I just picked one of these up. Finally found one in Canada with the blue dial (RK.AU0211L) Really liking the watch, but the stock leather strap needs an upgrade.
If you're still searching you could possibly try the AD, BigTime Singapore. They might also be able to point you to other retailers who have it in stock if they don't :)
Tell me, can you safely dive 1.5-2m under water for no more than a minute, with a screwed head, or is it better not to do this?Tell me, can you safely dive 1.5-2m under water for no more than a minute, with a screwed head, or is it better not to do this?
