Yes, I definitely would. It’s on the more expensive side but it’s worth it. Taormina is a 30min-1 hour drive from the nearest airport so bear that in mind if you’re not comfortable driving or catching public transport in a foreign country. I booked an all-inclusive for this trip so the transfer from the airport was all arranged ( seems like the norm in Sicily tbh). I would recommend it over other Italian cities like Rome / Florence as I know those places have a lot of scammers etc but definitely didn’t experience that in Taormina xx
Love the vlogs. I recommend visiting the algarve in portugal. Famous coastline with breathtaking beaches, rocky coves, beautiful small towns with little churches and cobblestone streets and lots of fresh local sea food. Luckily parts of my family are still living there and I can visit once a year during the summer 😊❤
Cool video! I made the move from Australia to the UK last year also. It didn’t work out for as I didn’t plan for it well enough. So I’m now back in Australia. I will move there again when I’m more prepared. I can relate to a lot of what you’re saying. I hope you’re still loving it there and finding yourself. P.s what’s your cultural background
I just depends on your space. I have a tall fridge freezer and an American style fridge freezer. People get whatever they can fit into the space they have. Being a family of 4 I could not manage with one of those small fridges but for a single person it would probably be ok.
Pre-pay cards for electricity are actually pretty common in England! It's most prevalent in low income households and council properties/tenants. Also a good fit for people with poor credit.
Hey! I work in healthcare and am fairly skilled for my particular profession so I had a job offer 3 months before I was due to arrive in London. Even with that, I did run into a couple of hurdles because you can’t sign a work contract in the UK without proof of right to work (a BRP in my case which you collect at a post office once you arrive). This made it difficult to sign a lease on a flat as basically no sane person would offer you a rental contract without proof of UK income. With that being said, once your visa is approved in which ever country you’re coming from, try your luck searching for jobs before you come. As for finding a place, I booked an Airbnb for 1 month which allowed me enough time to search for a place to live in the buffer period whilst my work contract was getting sorted out. There are lots of rental scams so make sure you view the properties you’re thinking of renting!
Made me laugh when you spoke about the electricity keys. I was a lodger in this woman's flat for about 2 months who kept forgetting to put money on the key. Almost every other day, the money would run out and I would be sitting in the dark with no internet - I moved into my own 1 bed flat after that had a regular meter thankfully. Now I am no longer renting thank god.
People don’t put the time into buildings because most aren’t art, there’s material costs and a timeline that people like to stick to now. But I agree the older buildings have so much character.
i have always loved London. i left in my 20s to back pack OZ and now in my 30s im moving back to OZ with PR. I am just priced out of locations such as london and cambridge but i do enjoy the location and proximity to the rest of Europe.
Renting is crazy@@beingbett... I did all I could to help my children buy their own properties... not all can do that. The rents are crazy and no return.
Great video, thanks. I love Greece- Hopefully Rhodes is my next stop. I totally agree about your points on solo travel: I always tell myself Feel the fear, and do it anyway! I've never regretted a solo trip so far. 💛
Glad you passed the rubicon and hit 1k subs. I shared for the entirety of my 11 years in London Town - you’ve made the right call. Even though I lived in Fulham for most of my years there, spent a lot of time north, West Hampstead is a great spot. I’m going to take a wild guess and say one of the apartments you viewed with the ‘shouty’ people was Camden Town or Kentish Town and the one that was in a really good area but far from the tube was Muswell Hill.
Thanks Adrian! Those are actually some good guesses. The first flat was in Hornsey! Feel like most tube stations in London attract interesting characters 😂
This was really interesting 😊 and the power can just go on you when you don't top it up? That's crazy 😧 I live in Germany and yes electricity can be cut for you If you don't pay your bills I think but the electricity company would send you an reminder to pay your bill first before they cut your power. At least that's how I think it works here, never had that happen and don't know anyone who had either.
Hey! Your videos came up in my recommendations.. maybe it’s my sign!? I’ve nearly done this a few times but then life got in the way; Uni, volunteering in Africa, multiple family tragedies.. I was then holding out for 31, but Covid hit I got too old with the boarders closed.. The changing of the age limit to 35 is the second chance most people never get; I should jump on it. You’ve really inspired me.
Omg about 10 years ago I went to London during a class trip and we also had a stadium tour at stamford bridge😂 that brings back so many memories only difference is when I visited Chelsea they were still good 😭😭
UK stole a part of my heart. I've lived in Cambridge for a while when I was 19, and now I need to come in England at least twice per year 😄btw really like your vlogging, and the way you talk about London make me thinking maybe I have to get out from my comfort zone. 🥲
Ooo I haven’t been to Cambridge yet but I’m definitely curious to go! Omg! I think that will be me if I don’t settle here 😂 Thank you for your feedback, means a lot 💗
@beingbett definitely. Mexican, Spanish food ( DR, PR) West Indian food, African food, American black soul food, Greek, & etc. You definitely need to make a trip in the summer time though.
I could never live in england. Dont wanna sound disrespectful but apart from the premier league nothing impresses me about england... The weather alone is a reason for me to not live there permanently 😂😂
@@beingbett right?! But everybody has their own preferences and especially if u grew up in that kinda area u prolly find it boring after a while and dont understand the hype... I honestly would rather live in Australia but those venomous and poisonous animal scare me 😂😂
Hope you have a great time exploring the world and do return to Australia some day. I came to Australia 41 years ago and found it really difficult to settle. I am glad I stayed because now I would not leave even if you paid me. Life is so easy here. There are plenty of opportunities here.

I lived in the UK for about 2.5 years and I couldn't get used to the Asian food there. Of course Indian was great but Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, Sushi etc. were all pretty disappointing compared to what I can get in Australia at a cheaper price. Also, having washing machines in the kitchen really surprised me.
@biggiedii4889 My mother had a washing machine in the kitchen back in the 1960s in Aus, because the old house had a laundry out in the backyard which she didn't like using. Especially at night.
I'm going the other way, to Aus. Just got my permanent residence. UK and London in particular has worn me down too much mentally, been here for 25 years and cannot handle the long dark damp miserable winters and cost of living anymore. I'm nearly 40 and still don't own a property, UK sucks.
Then you will never own a property in Australia or New Zealand!… Go to the U.S. where there are plenty of opportunities with much higher pay and housing costs are still very reasonable.
@aheat3036 My husband is Australian, but grew up in the UK and we live in the Western U.S. Unless you live rural, a house is very expensive and cost of living is high right now. Our saving grace is that I bought the house we live in during the recession affordably and we did the renovations ourselves.
