Couldn't even watch the video because it was interrupted by an ad like every minute. Sad that University of Arizona had to monetize the video, and especially since they are funded by AZ taxpayers.
I planted a huge handful of pumpkin in my small garden and I got tons of leaves and huge yellow blooms covering every surface of the garden. I just wanted to see if they would grow. Planted them like 2 inches apart in several rows. 😄
I'm in Phoenix and I had no idea about Stinknet. Just learned about it last week from a random video suggestion. I'm pretty sure it is was set of bronchitis and need for asthma inhalers the past month. I had to clear and level about about 200sq ft in my backyard March 2024 and it was intertwined with the Bermuda grass. I have lived in this home 15 years and did my normal allergy meds and PPE for my yard work. Definitely was feeling more eye, throat, and nasal burn during and after working. I thought it was something in the soil like valley fever. Was tested for that and negative. Luckily, chest xray showed it did not set into my lungs. Did a course of prednisone, then antibiotics, along side inhalers for asthma, which I've never had to use before. A month into it, it has slowly improved but I still get irritation in my throat and slight loss of voice when I have to speak loud for long periods of time.
Great video. You don't sterilize the lids unless the box indicates they need it. We used to have to sterilize but now they actually don't want us to as the kids have been redesigned.
This is a horrible, invasive plant that has become a major problem for me. It has created many rash problems for our home. COMPLETELY covered our property. There has to be a way to get rid of it
Our Master Gardener program provides classes out in the counties and you can learn more about that program by visiting your local Extension office extension.arizona.edu/locations. We also have an extensive library of publications on all sorts of topics at extension.arizona.edu/pubs.
Thanks for sharing such valuable information. It's important to recall that these beetles are outstanding and formidable organisms that have evolved within our forest. Therefore they became "pests" just when they represent a risk to our sustainable management activities. Currently, in my home country (Honduras), we are leading an investigation tightly related to the main topic of this video.
Hey, we'll reach out to the expert but the best place to submit your question is at extension.arizona.edu/contact-us as you'll get a faster response. Thanks!

I do find it a bit fascinating how little blood seems to come out during these procedures. I have to imagine this is after years or decades of refining the methods for doint it. Possibly helps both keeping the animal healthy and also making the process smoother.
these seem like very reasonable general concepts. thank you for this. is there anything available on the internet that extends or takes a more focussed applicat3ion of these ideas? how is it that after 2 years, this is the first comment? how is this not more important than that?!
We need more research for biological control. This weed blankets north Apache Junction and has the potential to blanket much of Arizona. Nothing else can grow once a blanket has established.. No amount of herbicide will gain control.
It depends on your area but I would say early to mid June would be the best. However, I planted mine as late as early July and I still had pumpkins in time for Halloween.
How is contaminated char used for environmental remediation of toxic or forever chemicals processed for disposal. My guess is that it is reduced to ash to reduced the total cubic volume of waste to be stored/ disposed. My main concern is that this heavy metals laden char is not able to make it into use where plant life/ animal life for food or wild. Just watched a vice documentary about a beef farmer who had his land rezoned to prohibit AG use of the land ,due to having been given(free/ highly recommended for AG use by EPA) vast quantities of biosolids from the loacal waste water treatment plant where pfas was being concentrated into the sludge from a nearby chrome plant for auto makers.
I am becoming vegan after watching this, this is so cruel i promise i cant imagine the pain he is in,wow i love meat but i didnt know animals had to go through suffering and torcher like this i give up no more meat for me
It's absolutely barbaric. I just cannot wrap my brain around why people think this is o.k. I don't even have balls, and I almost vomited whilst crossing my legs hard as I watched that. Pain relief is a must ffs. SO CRUEL.
We had such a cold long winter here in Tucson and I lost several plants even though I covered them. Will any of the plants in this video survive below 40 degrees?
I live on the Navajo Nation in Kayenta, Az and my baby rabbits all died suspiciously the same way. One of the babies were seizing it looked like and once it passed there was blood coming out of its mouth and nose. We had 31 babies from 5 different mother's and they are all gone within 5 weeks. the mothers are all fine but the babies were lost. The litters were born in December 2022 and they died first week of January 2023 and the last died yesterday.
