I imagine the movie that could have been. This book is just as good as its predecessor, better in some places. The lackluster and forgettable film adaptation(s) is a real shame.
I feel like it was never explicitly explained why the higher predator to prey ratio exists, why the animals aren’t fully grown, animal bodies washing up and why the prions effected those categories.

Update on lex. She dropped out of high school at 16 and became an erotic dancer. Got pregnant and her family raised the baby. She moved to Philadelphia and got all strung out on drugs and lives in the Kensington area in a box.
Malcom's morphine rants in the first and second books are so interesting and full of depth, favorite scenes in the books. Really good for developing the themes of the book
Thanks for uploading this audio novel. I did try to read the book myself, but I found it too difficult to read on while keeping in mind what I had already covered.
I've always found the Harding chapter set in Africa interesting for the time it was published, just one year after the release of The Lion King. Crichton must have been irritated by the film casting its feline and hyena characters in in such black & white terms. Indeed, hyenas are immensely fascinating as hunters and parents, and can be cute in a way. While lions often bully smaller predators off their kills and males slaughter the cubs of a defeated rival. Sarah's inner monologue calls lions "nasty and vile", and it makese sense given her perspective, but ultimately they are the top predator in a very competitive ecosystem for a reason.
If Ian's behavior theory about the raptors is true, then why is it different with them than with the other species? I mean, the T. Rex surely didn’t have kin to learn from and they still behaved differently with their offspring. On top of that, in the previous book, the raptors' nest Grant and Ellie found was so much different than here
For the rexes in particular, they aren't as intelligent as the raptors. Levine says during the trailer scene that their behavior is instinctual, not learned.
