To Have and To Homestead officially began in March of 2020 as a way to document our journey from corporate America to a more self-sufficient and off-grid lifestyle in Eastern Tennessee. In March of 2021, after a full year of sharing weekly Vlogs related to our journey, we took a step back to work on personal growth, create healthy boundaries, and re-establish our place in the world. After paying off all of our debt, we began implementing plans for passive income to keep our future secure, aka our “Retirement Plan.” In 2022, we got pregnant with our first child, and relocated back to rural North Carolina to raise our son closer to extended family. Throughout this process, we have found our true calling - helping others in the fitness and wellness industry, and are now acting as Fitness, Mobility, and Nutrition Coaches both in-person and online. Our upcoming videos will focus on fitness, wellness, and self-reliance in a modern world. We hope you will join us on this journey.

Yes - but hiring professionals kinda goes against the "self sufficiency" lifestyle that we are aiming to live. However, we do realize that sometimes hiring a professional is preferred and understand if others choose to do so!
So many haters in comments. This was a big savings and I was here for framing. I have vinyl siding and didn’t know what to do with the vinyl for frame. Looks like u didn’t need to remove much vinyl on one side.
No permit? No flashing? No pressure treated wood on concrete? No sill plate gasket? Splitting the sill plate? That pad is probably going to move. This was done 3 years ago - what does it look like now?

Did you ever do a video on screening the porch? I looked at your videos on your channel and I don't see where you you have one stating the finishing of the screening.
We do not. We sold that house soon after filming and were unable to retrieve video footage of the screening part. We plan to be sharing more home improvement videos in the future as we begin home remodeling of our current home. Will be posting a new channel trailer and more information as soon as it is ready. @@dropndeal the reason I was asking was because of the slabs that have post tension concrete. I had heard when you drill into those that you can really mess up the integrity of the slab. We're buying a new house with a covered patio that would make a great screen porch but it does have post tension.
Great question. I'm honestly unsure. I would ask the home builder or the individual that poured the concrete if you have any concerns prior to begininning this project. Thanks for watching!
We were unable to. We sold this home very soon after filming this video and were unable to get any "after videos" or videos of the actual screening process. As we remodel the home we are NOW in, we plan to upload videos and incorporate information about how we are doing so. Thanks for watching!

Yes! Getting out of debt has been a huge goal of ours for a while now. We successfully did so by selling our home and most of our possessions, and living totally off grid for a little over a year. We are now back in a home (completely paid for) with all of our vehicles paid for. We have started a business which gives us passive income and we are currently working toward expanding into more markets to increase our revenue. We hope to inspire others that it is possible to retire from corporate America and live the life they desire. Thanks for being here.

Compared to what we got in coastal North Carolina, it was SNOW HEAVEN! I love living higher in elevation in the Tennessee mountains. Seeing those snow capped mountains just brings me so much peace. Wayy better than soggy mud at the coast!

My husband mother made the pine cones for us. It's super easy! Just tie a string around it, dip them in colored wax and allow to dry! They are a game changer!
