Welcome aboard.
Thank you for watching my video with interest.

My name is James Park.

I have been working on mechanical work since I started at the age of 20.

I'm filming a video while working.

There are many different mechanical products around us.

I hope it will be helpful for processing unusual products, special materials, or machine processing.

Everything I do isn't necessarily the right way.

Please just refer to it and find a way that suits you.

May you succeed!

Absolute amateur here. How does a tap break? If they do this regularly, there should be a procedure?

Do you charge by the hour or ? How long to do this job? Very cool machine. Who first invented this? I guess I should just google the last question but too lazy 😉😉

I'm not sure if you're an employee or at a customers, but I would never grind or polish on a customers part without permission. I have worked on high precision items id get pissed if a business did it without prior permission. It could be more costly than the tap removal.

Would make fin fans and chase the 105ea. 1-1/8 " holes (on each end) with a tap on an impact. If there was a booger, they'd weld it up and just redrill/tap.

Some 25 - 30 years ago I would take our discrepant parts (with broken taps) to a place in Gardena Ca called Tap EX. Jon was a master at his craft, his success rate was 100% and saved our company many times over. Jon also offered a mobile service that benefited the local aerospace and refineries in the area. In extreme cases it was easier to bring the edm equipment to the site versus the opposite...

Hi , i wonder why don't you use the other edge of the insert . Normally it's the 95° approach , but there are tools (same price) with 75° approach angle . That other edge lasts longer , but you have to program an exit angle to the path . Perfect for roughing

I used to "sharpen" carbide blanks to drill down into the broken tap. Takes a while, but it works if you take your time. I removed lots of broken taps. Mine and other guy's. Any time I ended up with a broken carbide drill or just a carbide round, I'd keep it to the side for just such an occasion.

😅 there is always some bullshit that happens when you make single part order xD. When I was in night shift, and Once we lost power. 😅 i was in middle of tapping, and as it slow down, it snapped and it continues to go down destroying My Piece. There was nothing i can do but to watch.. since nothing was working 😅 this happen because shop was new, other half of shop was still under construction.

I have an idea, can you make an electrode shaped like a flat screwdriver and cut the broken tap in half like diagonally or something. This way you can have one go at it and save some time

Hardest thing to teach a new machinist is how to use a tap without issues. Best to use this as a job application test! No Unions, if you cant get a job without a union you not good...

I'm confused on what's going on here. Can someone explain? I'm guessing its doing some sort of electric blast arc to knock tiny bits of material off the broken drill bit..... But is there really no other way to get that tap out? Feels like theres a better way but I guess though any other way would risk damage to expensive part and this is probably a top end precision part

This was so easy if you rub the nut it will be weld by friction up to 700 to 800 degree that time it will be very soft after leave it upto cold then you can easily rotate it in opposite direction and u pull it back
