Hi! We are a married South African couple who recently sold everything to start a new life in New Zealand. We started our channel in 2019 with a focus on South African travel content. Now we're documenting our journey on our new adventure, we'd love for you to join us :)
Here's what you can expect to see on our channel: Longform videos - uploads every Friday about things to do in New Zealand (mostly Auckland), how we're settling in and updates on our road to NZ citizenship Shorts - daily life, things to do, places to eat in Auckland
Please feel free to drop some comments about any other content you'd like to see :)
it's great that you stayed at the nalagi hotel as I have stayed there twice pror to Covid but it was quite a nice stay. the rooftop pool is great maccas is just a small walk away as well as burger King plus a decent s/market just up the road.Denarau is just a short cab ride away too. glad you both had fun on Fiji airways as well as in the strata lounge.
Why are you ramping train service in this city? It's absolutely terrible, especially weekends the services often aren't' even running at all. Best and cheapest way to get to the airport on time and in comfort, have a mate drive you.
Why do you hate this city so much? The trains ran perfectly fine…this was filmed on a Saturday, it was on time and we absolutely love going on the train, but that’s just us and our opinion.
@@BeingBedingfield Hate this city? Use to love this city but that was 20 years ago, been a downward spiral ever since, especially the last several years under Labour. Rail try commuting every day, service is terrible, weekends service is often late or cancelled completely. Billions recently wasted on more rail that will never be completed could have and should have gone to a much higher priority like a second bridge crossing. Rail here is a joke, always has been and they need to stop wasting money on it.
@@Kiwi_DaveI use rail from onehunga. Yes there are some disruptions atm but the CRL will be great once finished. What else? More buses? More cars and motorways? ( been there, done that and still stuck in traffic)
What a beautiful birthday celebration you had, Chantal! 🎉🎉🎉 Bravo, Craig, for treating your beautiful wife to a trip she will never forget. 💖 We are so happy you both enjoyed the adventure and that all the traveling went well. All the best and lots of love to both of you.💖💖
Little travel hack most of the modern in flight entertainment systems you're able to use your own wired headphones or earphones offering better sound quality than airline issues ones. Air NZ IFE allows you to use your own wired headphones/earphones if it doesn't work though you can buy a twin adapter from jb hifi or something
Would absolutely love going to Tahiti and surrounding islands. I was there when working on a cruise ship years ago, and would love to go back and actually spend some time there 😁
Fiji is the best place for the winter escape, so close to nz, that late flight into akl is a killer, i learnt from it lol, i always land in akl in the early arvo now, glad you both had a great time😊
You know, feels like just when we finish a trip, you folks give us another destination. Just got back from Wellington/Taupo/New Plymouth/Mt. Ruapehu and now we have to plan for Fiji! 😀 Fantastic birthday present.
Oh what a lovely break😃👍Part of your birthday package😄🥂👍Fooood!! I love the food😋Whenever I eat any cake/desert, I'm celebrating my birthday😂 Awesome place Fiji. As a South African, I believe New Zealanders are by far the kindest and most friendly people on the planet. Hence your friendly bus driver and customs agent❤💯👍👍Im still practicing wearing my shorts in winter🤣Kudos to you Craig😂👍👍Thanks Chantz and Craig, Great video🤗👍
Birthday package…love it 🤗🤗 Yeah, the kiwis are super friendly in our experience. Although, the bus driver was South African ☺️ Thanks so much for watching 🩷
Arrrgh thought you had been a bit quite - now i know why 😂😂 - happy birthday again C and well done Craig - nice 👍. Looking forward to the bit in between. Welcome back, and it could have been worse. You could have ended in CHCH 😂😂 - where you really would have felt the difference in temperature 😂😂. Till next time, Bye
Yeah, sorry about being a bit quiet here on RU-vid, but we had a good reason 😅 lol, my cousin visited from chch last week and thought it was summer here in Auckland in comparison 😂
Awesome vid guys, I'm heading back home from Australia after 14 years living here, I'm definitely not looking forward to the doom and gloom of facing the Winters there..😂 Winters here in QLD are awesome, my favourite season.😊
I was born in Durban but spent years 2-8 in England. When we moved back to Durbs we lived many years in the city Centre. Smith Street mostly. The city was beautiful then. It was clean and safe. Window shopping was a regular Sunday family activity to do after a Sunday roast. Garlicks was my favourite shop. But sadly, although the beachfront looks lovely, Smith and West Street look awful. I recently spent a couple of days with family who live in the Davenport area. My late Gran used to live in Davenport Square and it was beautiful back then. But the amount of household waste on the streets is dire. Even the condition of the roads and pavements is shocking. I live in Hibberdene now and we have a great community of locals who strive to keep it a "Tidy Town". Durban's city Centre needs that too.
A very quick move through what looks to be a beautiful area. There wasn't much detail about the places you went to. I would have liked to know more about the food, the ambiance, what other facilities were offered by the places so that I would be encouraged to visit them. Perhaps that's not what your vlog is normally about.
This is an old video, made it when restaurants etc started opening up after Covid. So the point of the video was just to go see what things were like, which is very different to how it is now in normal times. Thanks for watching though 🩷
At 12m50s you mentioned you stopped often to take a photo of another mountain or river or coastline. You left out "and to have another ham n cheese sammidge"
Good on you, looks looks like y'all had a great time.. shame you didn't use "first table" for eating out, half price for max of 4 people.. but brais are delish too
Never thought I’d see Auckland girl mentioning a braai 👏 love it 😁 We didn’t even think of using first table…we’ll remember it for next time, thanks so much 😊
Thank you so much! Such a great and informative vlog. 👍👏It's actually very affordable considering it's for four people on a two-week trip. Great planning, guys.👌 Chantal, you are a great reporter.💖 I m keeping this vlog as a reference material for our future planning. 🥰 Lots of love to both of you💖, and I hope your parents are doing great.💕💕
Hi,Thanks for all informations..we are planning to visit south New Zealand from 26th of décember to 11 thé of january, and I would like to know the temperatures at this period could you tell me please? Big kisses from Réunion Island ❤
Hi, so exciting that you’re planning a trip to NZ all the way from Reunion 🤗 The temperature is mostly nice and warm around that time, but could get quite cold if you head to Milford Sound 😊
I believe this trip was well worth every cent. Planing was definitely key to the trip success. Sandwiches on a road trip is more of a personal preference😋 It reminds me of the old days when there were not many shops on long road trips. Thanks very much Chantz and Craig for the breakdown and explanations, it really helps alot to know these things before going on such a long trip😇🙏👍
oh yes! I remember stopping for cheese and pickle sandwiches and a hot flask of tea near Lake Pupuke in my 20's (almost 30 yrs ago!). The picnic spots were the best 😊
So wonderful. I’ve been following you guys for a while now and it’s always inspiring to experience your trips and excursions. We are a richer and a wealthier society with you here. Thank you so much for taking the time and energy to record your life and to share it with the world and your kiwi family.
