This video got me absolutely hooked on Scriptfella. I've been struggling for a long time with my writing, as I was watching more and more of these types of screenwriting videos I felt like I was just cutting and cutting my scrips and never adding. My scripts had gotten shorter - but they still felt dry, and I felt none of these videos hit that nail on the head. Then I discovered Scriptfella! A couple videos in, and a watch of the free masterclass - I now understand what's wrong with my writing. I hadn't found my voice, and I wasn't writing cinematically, in terms of shots. I'm thrilled to get writing again with this new-found knowledge. I'd love to buy the line by line script reviews, or even the masterclass, but sadly they're just way out of my budget. What does one do if the goal is not become a professional screenwriter, but see your own work produced? That is, how does one gather the buzz around specific IP? Publish it as novel? Comics/graphic novels? Shoot a trailer/short Go for broke and self produce it?!?

Really appreciate all the information you've put out there. Been using it a lot lately and picked up on the disdain for the use of "CONTINUOUS" 😂. I have to ask though, I've submitted drafts of the same script with and without CONTINUOUS only to be told to remove it or put it back in. All a matter of the reader's preference? Been knocked down a few points for this particular detail.

Thank you so much for bringing this up. I cannot tell you how many times I have turned off a show that uses gratuitous profanity. Often the writers put words into characters' mouths that sound so unreal I can only roll my eyes. For example, how many women in real life talk about their privates publicly and loudly? None I've ever met. Yet so often a female protagonist has a line that is so grossly obscene that in real life only a sex worker would use it. To me, a carefully placed expletive can work if the situation warrants its uterance. I think using overt profanity instead of clever dialogue is lazy writing.
