Nice channel! Like the scenes from Saqqaq. We sail every year by our own boat from Nuuk to Saqqaq! There are 3 huge bird cliffs where thousands of seabirds breed every year, just apx. 1 hour by boat from Saqqaq. Those places are also scenes to see!
Hey Nina, I stumbled across your channel while reminiscing about a trip my wife and I took to the Canadian Rockies a few years ago. We visited Maligne Lake as part of our trip and took one of the boat tours over to Spirit Island, and I made the comment that I would LOVE to come back at some point and kayak to one of the campgrounds there….it’s just so visually stunning, as I know you’re fully aware!! Your video of the trip there was really enjoyable and rekindled that desire to head back there….really well done video!! Looking forward to watching more of your channel in the coming days as well. I also wanted to ask you a few questions about kayak camping there, whenever we do decide to head back that way….we live in North Carolina, so this would be an epic road trip if we opted to actually go that route…I’m sure we could find some other adventures along the way, lol. Anyway, here goes…. What’s the best time of year to kayak camp? I’m assuming spring/summer would be the obvious choice, but not really sure. Any favorite campgrounds that you’d recommend? I know you mentioned another one that you’d stayed at on a previous trip, but wasn’t sure if that was your favorite? I don’t have the map in front of me, but would it be feasible to paddle beyond Spirit Island to the further end of the lake? Are there campgrounds beyond where you stayed? I think that’s about it for now, but if you have any other useful tidbits, please pass them along. Oh, one final humorous note….my wife and I occasionally tune into several RU-vid channels involving kayaking/camping/etc., and now that we’ve added you to the mix, we follow three other Canadian-based adventurers!! I think we’ve developed an appreciation for both the beauty of Canada and the warm, friendly personalities of the folks we follow. Maybe moving north of the border might be in our retirement future, lol. Cheers, Woody
Love the video!! I’ve been trying to figure out how to book a campsite for Lindeman Lake all day with no luck. I feel like my head could explode trying lol. Was this just first come first serve?
I'm hoping to do a Canadian work holiday experience in BC, Vancouver and this is absolutely something I am going to do. Stunning scenery! Absolutely nuts. I live in England, so no mountain forest views like this here, although the rolling hills of devon is beautiful in its own way. This place looks like what heaven would look like to me.
Brings back good memories! Did this with family and friends, had the rocks at baby Bedwell to ourselves, simply amazing! Tried to get to Creamnbut turned around JUST in time before a crazy storm hit us. Really felt for the folks crammed into Bedwell or on the way to Cream, it would have been brutal for them.
Loved your videos. please also try to add more information for photographers/filmmakers like what's the best timing for perfect lighting or months to visit there. I'm a wedding filmmaker tho 😅 SUBSCRIBED ♡
Do you have a background in filming? I can only imagine the times you’ve stubbed your toes on loose rocks and/or scaled to find the perfect shot. Haha.
Been backcountry camping on Vancouver Island with my spouse. On or first outing we carried store bought meals; they were disgusting and laden with salt. After a full day of hiking, we'd consume an entire package each, which was often 2 or more servings. Aside form the blandness, the notion of intaking 5000% of one's daily sodium allowance in a single meal was eye-opening. We continue to camp in the deep wilderness; now we cook and dehydrate our own meals. They're delicious, nutritious, and reconstitute far better than store bought. Sodium levels are also sane. Happy trails!
I'm really curious... realizing this is on a older post but.....when traveling and trekking do you find yourself to be brand name or product loyal...or do you shop around for your gear?
Loved this video!! New to backpacking and hoping to get a reservation for Joffre mid-July. Coming from the Okanagan so thinking of staying 2 nights, are there some day hike areas around the campsite to fill up a day?
Hi Nina, beautiful video! May I ask you where you got your shirt? Ps. I just purchased the Volt for my kids to come backcountry camping with us this year.
I don't want to sound weird or over dramatic but, I wish there were more women like you. Adventurous and resourceful. Not afraid to step into the unknown. Not to mention extremely clever and just overall intelligent. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the great footage. Did you find out anything about tours of the observatory, the "Stellarium"? It seems they make reservations only for groups of 10 or more, but I can't tell if there are also waiting lists from which they allow 10 at a time, or if you must reserve in advance with 10, as with a school group? The website is not helpful.
