The BC1000Stars RU-vid channel was started in 2008 when it became obvious my Big Country VHS tapes were starting to deteriorate in quality, as VHS tape tends to do over time. I had to start transferring what I had to a digital format and once that was done, I thought it would be fun to start a dedicated Big Country channel. The objective of it was simply to share my love for all things Big Country with other fans around the world. It exists simply to help keep the great musical legacy of Big Country and Stuart Adamson alive. If you are a subscriber or have left a comment or thumbs up to anything along the way, thank you! To all the wonderful people who have donated clips and/or stories to share, a huge thanks to you as well. Stay Alive as always and I hope you like it! Andy (Melbourne, Aus - December 2023)
I saw them in concert about 4 years later, here in Milan, in a legendary venue called Rolling Stone which no longer exists... They played very well, they also had a nice scenography
I'm so happy I found this version, although I feel like it took me much too long to find it! This is definitely one of the best songs off of the title track's album, and although I respect Stuart's preference later on to play this song acoustic/solo, I absolutely LOOOOOOOOOVE the full band version. The drums and bass on this are just...SO PERFECT for this song and reinforce its message so much better than when it was just played acoustic/solo. (Besides...isn't "peace in 'our' time" more apt when played by a band, or at least by more than one person? Not to be so literal, but...well, it's just a thought. LOL) Anyway, it made me so happy to find this. Although I know it's been up for a while now, thank you so much for uploading and sharing it!
@@luisanthony1385 I’ve never heard of any video existing of their Japan tour in 1984, and I have looked into it many times over the decades. Wish there was something.
I was there, just for Big Country. I tell my kids I was at Freddie Mercury’s last gig but just went for the support band and they think I’ve lost the plot!
Wow! Finding this gem has just brought a tear to a 55yr olds eye at 1am in the morning. My first ever gig. Not only did it enhance my love for Stuart and the band as a teenager, it also brought The Big Dish into my life. Two awesome Scottish bands. The world has been a duller place without you Mr Adamson 😢❤
Big Country had quite a few appearances on UTV back in the day, there's a great one of Stuart and Steve Harley on the Kelly Show playing Come Up And See Me.
I just now discovered this, and am I the only one who thinks the first version/the demo is better than the second version? :o And the second version is the one recorded by the band? I just...I can't help but think that Bruce is far more a genius songwriter (musically) than anyone has ever properly given him credit for. GAH. Needless to say, I LOVE this. Thank you so much for sharing, and it's especially neat to hear both versions!
@@lyrical7747 I labeled these the way Bruce has where they originally appeared but the demo does have a finished quality to it. After looking into it further, I actually think both may feature all members of the band. These were recorded at REL Studios in November of 1986. A great instrumental either way!
I agree with this comment so much! It was dusted off for this leg of the tour only and they took it to another level. Stuart used a really clean setting for his lead lines in this version, the only time he ever did and it sounds immaculate.
Stuart would be proud. Good on you guys. I remember Bruce coming on to stage at the forum in Livingston and my cousin saying 'check Bruce's effing hair'! Opening song was Restless Natives. Awesome
I am so grateful for videos like this. I might have seen musicians more individually talented - doubtful- but these four? Together? I have never seen their equal.
I was there 84 or 86. June. It was so hot. We all sang along with smokey. I think Tony sang when i was there so this was prob not my concert concert. The crowd sang tony tony tony tony. And he sang
