No, as a woman, I appreciate how much this show showcases the danger of child birth. It was tough to watch at first, but after a while, I feel empowered.
Few things to keep in mind: Spoilers (well almost): 1. Daemon loved his brother. He is mad because viserys pushed him away instead of otto. 2. The heart of the story is misogyny, how they cannot accept a woman ruler 3. There are some really good intersting lore you can checkout (David lighbringer, gray area, preston jacobs) if you are interested. I cannot wait for you to enjoy thus series. With love, Shreya
I’ll skip these reactions…. Too much cynicism and comparisons to the lord of the rings….they are completely two different worlds…. If it’s not your thing, just don’t watch it, that’s totally fair… because it’s gonna be the same tone as Game of Thrones
So you dont like the original series and never finished it? Please dont react to shows you know you wont like just because they are popular. Nobody wants to watch reactors not enjoying themselves. I dont give dislikes out much, but this one was a fumble guys.
Emm.. come again? Lord of the rings about the small people? I thought it’s about divine beings manipulating things all around, knowing the primordial song and basically being spoiled about almost everything what’s to come. And here “the royalty” you hate so much and common people both are manipulated by forces primordial. It’s the same. In Tolkien magic diminishes. In Martin’s world it’s being born again (game of thrones series, not HotD when dragons are still roaming the skies) And.. daaaah dragon - are magic. Dragons, phoenixes and unicorns, just like J. K. Rowling wrote in her time.
Personally, I think HBO should create a popup for House of the Dragon that asks, have you seen Game of Thrones? If you answer no, it will automatically block House of the Dragon. Watching it completely without context when over 80% of things from HotD are meant to shock and the viewer doesn't even know what it is about is crap. A huge NO to these reactions. You don't have to agree with me, but the reaction to me in this sense seems boring, but it's just my opinion.
As a white guy let me be the one to say it. But it doesn't matter what time period, white people are nuts. 😄 And now I see why I never got into Game Of Thrones. Its a soap opera about royalty.
Just so you know... season 8 of GOT is hated universally. Seasons 1-4= excellent. Seasons 5-6=book fanfiction. Season 7=show fanfiction. Season 8=hot garbage.
Game of Thrones follows ALOT of different characters BUT HOTD sticks with THE 1 FAMILY that kicks off that world. If you could check out GOT lores it may help with what goes on in this world (like the tree with a face) I never thought I would like any of it 10 years ago and started actually into the 3rd season of GOT !! Soo Hooked ever since!!! The entire reason I followed reaction channels!! ❤ Hang In there cuz season 2 is coming soon and might be more interesting for some of you!🙂❤❤ Again Thanks so much for taking the time to check this out!!❤🤗
i guess i have a similar relationship to this series as augustine?? i'm a huge tolkien fan who never really got into got. but hotd promised more cool dragon stuff so i was like "why not" and jumped right in. even tho i still don't care for the realistic depictions of abuse and assault, or even the pseudo british monarchy vibes, i'm glad i gave it a shot.
Dang when y’all don’t know much about the lore and can add all the great insight you normally do, y’all really lean into how much y’all hate white people. Laying it on thick in this one.
Even though I despise the 8th season of thrones, it’s still by far and away the best show I’ve ever watched and nothing will ever top in imo. I still rewatch the first 7 seasons every year. And then I have my own head canon for what happened in my “season 8”
I really appreciated your gradual transition from cynicism to investment. Like the initial commentary was a bit startling at how ready to write it off you were (using the word ‘dynasty’ making it up its own butt was certainly a take haha), but it was obvious you got into it pretty quickly, even if bits weren’t all your things
I actually understand where their skepticism for this show comes from. I mean all the negatively that surrounded GOT for the last 5 years would make sense why they're hesitant to watch the show. I think he gets better don't expect it to be too happy
2 main points. 1st the smaller of the two. Noting the spots that made you guys uncomfortable, the brutality of the child birth scene and Rhaenyra being hit on when she looks like she's 14. Just you wait. 😮 The second being how neither of you could get into the first series. OMG! Hector! My man of story telling. I harken back to your MCU days of reviewing I think Wandavision or Loki season 1, "Story potentiality! Story potentiality." You guys called this first ep of House of the Dragon as just setting the stage for things to come. That is what the whole first season of Game Of Thrones is. It's setting the stage, setting the chess pieces in place to tell a grand of a story. Yes the final season is objectively terrible. Im in the minority when I say I liked the finale season. The story choices were perfectly fine, my gripe is that it was a shortened season and felt the events were rushed. It wasnt played out as organiclly as the rest. I think most peoples issues come down to so many different types of set ups and potential outcomes but there can only be one. Every season after 1 just gets exponentially better and better. The interwoven and connected stories is on another level. I promise all 3 of you, if you give Game Of Thrones an honest chance, you will enjoy it as much as you all enjoyed Andor. Youll see a familiar face or two as well. And I know how much you all liked Andor. The writing and acting in Andor make it the Game of Thrones of Star Wars. You'll learn to love and hate characters and towards the end you find yourself liking characters you initially hated in the first flew seasons. Such epic writing, acting and production.
@@HeroesReforged great! 👍 I can't wait. I sure hope you do the O.G. series though. Like I said, I promise you, all three of you will enjoy it and you'll appreciate House of the Dragon that much more.
The final seasons of Game of Thrones was fine. Just wasn't as good as the first half of the show because it was more dragons and battles and less scheming. Still better than almost anything else on tv to this day. Worth the watch for sure.
Honestly, I quite liked this show. I went into it with caution after GoT s8 and was pleasantly surprised. There are some changes from the book that I'm not crazy about but don't mind. My only serious complaint would be that, like its predecessor, this show suffers from dark lighting, which means sometimes you can't see a thing.
It’s dope that to you guys are doing HOTD now. I definitely think you should check out the OG show at some point tho. The last season was good. It definitely has its flaws, but it was still way better than most shows could ever do.
House of the Dragon has only 10 episodes at the moment as opposed to over 70 that GoT has, so it's less of an investment. HotD season 2 is also coming out this month so it's more relevant than watching GoT. HotD is also a prequel series so it won't spoil GoT whereas GoT does spoil HotD. HotD also doesn't have the baggage of having a bad ending, though GoT is obviously still worth watching.
-Talked through the whole scene then acted like they did not get the lore. You guys should stick with the marvel shows you understand, this might be too much of a task for you. Here are complex grey characters that you won't get.
