What can you expect when you go to Therapy? What might your psychotherapist talk with you about? This channel explores some of my favorite concepts in the world of Marriage & Family Therapy. I will simplify therapy terms and concepts, and share my favorite interventions used in Therapy such as : Communication Skills, Taking Personal Responsibility, Boundaries, and Learning and Growing so you can be the best possible version of yourself. Therapy is not scary! Your Therapist is there to support you and help you know yourself better and make the best choices so you can have a healthy, happier life.

I have been an LMFT in California for Over a decade. I work mostly with children, Teens and Families. I am so grateful to have a job I absolutely Love! I look forward to sharing it with you.

Thank you so much for the tips. It is very reassuring to hear being yourself as a therapist is okay and works well. Had to go through my own process and it feels great to be my professional SELF!

I had a completely traumatizing experience with a therapist as a teenager. I wish it never happened. Even 10 years later I still have flashbacks from it. I feel so jealous of people who had positive experiences in therapy growing up. The therapist I saw was extremely controlling and egotistical and I wasn’t allowed to say no to anything. It sucks because the memories won’t go away but I’m also averse to going back to therapy because of this. Working with teens like this has so much responsibility because you can do so much harm but also a lot of good. I wish all therapists who worked with children were committed to not doing harm but this isn’t the case…..

Thank you so much.. this video helped me so much. I am the founder and CEO of High Impact Movement, Inc. located here in Hot Springs Arkansas. This morning or actually last night I got a call from a school that we work with that when their students committed suicide and they needed grief counselors to come in and work with their kids who are going through the grieving process or just need to talk. I’ve done this before but the way that you laid it out in this video was really helpful and concise. I think with these concepts that you shared anyone with compassion and love can walk somebody through the grieving process of a loved one or special special friend. Thank you so much.

How do you justify to insurance companies that youre building rapport and taking it slow? With cash clients i think its easier to convince parents to pay out of pocket long term, but not insurance.

I'm watching this because emotionally I am stuck in teenagehood and I'm studying to be a counselor who wants to help teens, cause I would have benefitted from life being explained this way to me... Thank you for this perspective!

i'm under the impression that, as the parent or guardian, they can request to see any or all progress notes, or request any information that they want to know about . i dont believe it is always completely confidential for teenagers, and i've been in situations where, due to risk of the severity of the substance being experimented, i was advised and required to involve the parent, which ultimately broke the rapport and trust completely.

Yes, it’s definitely a concern. Certain things I feel they can know but not address, just keep an eye on it so they don’t feel like they were betrayed.

Some tips for your video if you are open to it: The intro is a bit long and then the titles the typing is still making typing noise even the text is all typed out. It doesn't align.
