I saw this as a kid in the theater and I think my Mom wisely put her hand in front of my eyes. The wrath of God is not for children's eyes! Welp except for on VHS where kids can watch it over and over again. Sorry Mom and my fragile child psyche. 🤷🏻♂
The shriveling head is what gave me the nightmares. The exploding head and the face melting are bad but the way that face shrinks.... ugh. I can still remember the nightmares :( Don't show this movie to kids!
No CGI could do it better and that is still true in 2024. Really sad Holywood is using CGI for everything which just looks so damn unrealistic. Thats why movies after around 2000 are not good anymore.
Definitely one of the TEN greatest films of the Entire 20th Century. So much innocent fun. Pure naive entertainment beautifully and artfully created. This film is genius.
They were right about it sticking with people I watched this movie for the first time at like 11 or 12 years old and around a decade later I still vividly remember Toht’s melting face
0:59 Indiana Jones : THERE'S A BIG SNAKE IN THE PLANE, JOCK! Jock : Oh, that's just my pet snake Reggie! Indiana Jones : I HATE SNAKES, JOCK! I HATE 'EM!
Its kinda fascinating listening to these two former heavy weight champions in contrast to today..having all the resources in the world and no clue about what people want to see ...the creative culturally in touch spark has been extinguished by age partly by times changing...probably complacency in the industry. Ridley Scott (Scott free) faces the same problem. What do we do with these 80 year old billionaire directors destroying classic franchises?
I thought they primarily used candle wax for the face, but damn! They went all out for it! EDIT: i thibk watching the head melt in real time would be so much worse
Snakes dont bother me at all and seeing those beautiful snakes on set could be nightmares for some but for me not a bother But I'm also glad when it came to the progress. Everyone took all the precautions they could
Those deaths would have scarred me for years, but they happened to such pieces of shit people, especially that French man. I cheered so loudly when his head exploded and just laughed at both of the nazis' faces melting away. All three of them got what they had coming to them. Steven Spielberg is THE best director of all time. While Raiders of the Lost Ark had the best ending, I still prefer Temple of Doom over all of them.
