Reading some reviews I am under the impression that Raiders Of The Lost Ark is considered the best Indy movie and one of the best movies ever made. But you know what - in my opinion The Last Crusade is the greatest Indiana movie ever made. It has so much more depth and symbolism. It explores a great story, and the relationship between these two amazing characters (father and son). You also get funny characters from previous movies returning. It just has it all. Adventure, action, comedy, grand set pieces, A TANK, and a heart warming story about friendship and fatherhood. Personally I regard it as one of the best movies ever made.
+ivailo7 Disagree, Raiders of the Lost Ark is still the best of the franchise I think... I think its a bit pretentious to try to say that symolicisms and other metaphorical suggestions is what makes adventure movies like the Indiana Jones franchise great ... its not. To try to shove Indiana Jones into some sort of literature genre by creatively interpreting its contents to be this or that symbolic metaphor is kind of cringy inducing and pretentious ... all you will end up with is a movie that is slightly above decent in those aspects that you want it to be .. there are plenty of other movies that do those things better than Crusade .. The franchise works best if you look at it from the pure giddy sense of wonder of adventure quest ... its the genre that it thrives best in, of course you could occasionally find meaningful metaphors and thoughtful ideas from the story but those are just supporting aspects where the main strength of the movie is still how the sense of adventure and wonder is inspiring the audience ... As such, Raiders of the Lost Ark is the most fulfilling imaginatively ... none of the mythical artifacts in the other Indy movies comes with the sense of foreboding surreal mysterious presence and awe as how the Ark of the Covenant was presented in Raiders. The action scenes are full of great tempo and humor and giddy excitements. As great as Doom and Crusade are, they do no convey the full circle sense of perfect fulfillment as Raiders for many audiences out there ..
The Last Crusade is my favourite Indiana Jones movie! I love the relationship between Indy and his father! And I also identify a lot with Henry Jones Sr. We're both bookworms and fascinated about Medieval History :D
The last crusade is my favorite from the Indiana Jones series. Great story, amazing action, good casting and acting, Alison is so beautiful, great scenery. It is an amazing movie.
Growing up i though River Phoenix so so incredible cool as young indy, with the long front hair. Just perfect. I remember i was really sad when i read he died. And Sean Connery was fantastic. Harrison Ford, just wow but for me i have to say hands down that Karen Allen as Marion Ravenwood, man she was pretty and still is!
The Last Crusade is my favorite Indiana Jones movie and may just be my favorite movie of all time!!❤️I love the storyline and relationship between the characters 😄
My friend commented once on another symbolism of the movie, that Indiana and Henry are the only two shown to drink from the Holy Grail (father and son) like God and Jesus.
@@travisnaumann8046 What Crystal Skull does really well is make use of it's time period. I assume the next film takes place in the 60s so I really hope they make use of their time period.
Growing up, Temple of Doom and Last Crusade were among my favorite movies (I didn't see Raiders until much, much embarrassingly later and while I ended up liking it more than Temple this one stuck with me) . Even then, I think I preferred Last Crusade over the other movies mostly because I just loved how Indy and his dad bickered (also the Williams score had maybe more of a reverence than maybe the other movies in the series, I always had this score stick as an earworm) and finally getting Indy's backstory along with his real name. I'm trying to remember has it ever been brought up in the other movies that Indy's actual name was Henry Jones, Jr.?
Table of doom was by far the weakest worst of the 3 original movies most people don't even remember Temple of doom Raiders and Last crusade are the best and most memorable.
@@charliezz6746 Temple of Doom is also an iconic film, everyone remembers it as much as the others. For some people it is their favourite _because_ it is so messed up.
For me, seeing the falling out between Indy and his Dad in The Winds of Change made The Last Crusade an even more poignant movie. It caused me to respond to a few things more emotionally than I had before.
Lucas really doesn't have a fucking creative bone in his body. Star Wars is all the design work and set dressing, Indy is apparently all Spielberg. Howard the Duck and Willow are all George.
I always thought the energy came from just Indy and his father. I mean sure there's the search for the Holy Grail but I think the point at least for the both of them was again discovering the existence of not just God but also Jesus definitively (granted my personal experience was I didn't see Raiders until much later in my life, so the discovery of the Arc was something I didn't catch early on).
