dude love your videos.. been watching you for a couple years now , My 21-ft center console is at the dunes in Newport..would love to have you aboard.. let's go get some fish!!!
Rad! I’ve been fishing around Newport and been getting spotted bass, kelp bass, big mackerel and round stingray recently. Fishing is really good at the moment 🤘
@@anglertoanglerfishing6652 you got it. I was on Balboa island fishing the harbor there and getting hefty spotties. PR right now is 16 inch spotted. The most noteworthy catch tho was this huge mackerel two nights ago. 2 feet long.
I can’t stand people like this smh 🤦♂️. Get a pair of pliers and get the hook out. This is why saddle point is blown out, you got a bunch of dummies and weekend warriors fishing out there.
Dug a pond in my backyard for the dirt. Those green sunfish just showed up. Lagniappe I guess. Them and catfish. Fishing in it in less than a year. Wife has the record 9.5". Extreme southeast LA. What state you in? Enjoyed the video. Usually fish with bamboo poles. Have a lil rod and reel I use sometimes. Next time at wal mart I will pick up that bait.
@@anglertoanglerfishing6652 Any halfway decent fisherman can catch a 5-6" goggle eye, that's what we call them down the bayou. Have caught them on a hook as small as 2". That's fishing. Beautiful fish too. That turquoise stripe under the eye.
Hi Toji. Duely noted. It's a bit tough on the boat with tight quarters, moving water and wind. Appreciate the feedback and will work on it. Thanks man!👍
I moved here from Denver last March, and been hitting the West Jetty (Wedge) ever since. I crawl the rocks at least once a week, and gotta say. Rarely ever NOT get into Calico, or Spotties. They're amazing! Finally brought a nice Cuda in last night, and getting ready to get back out there. You're videos have helped, thank you. Maybe I'll run into ya guys. Always good to have fishing buddies. Thx again
Right on man! I appreciate the kind words!🙏 Putting in the time and effort fishing the jetty pays off. You learn spots where the fish usually are. Keep it up bro. If you see me out there give me a shout.
Hey Gary. Most of the guitarfish I've caught have been off Huntington Beach Pier. I don't usually target them but get them when fishing for Bay rays or sharks. It's like they bite best on fish baits (mackerel, sardines, smelt, ECT.). I like a heavier set up. 20-30 lb line, 4-6 ounce sliding sinker, size 2/0 -4/0 circle hook. I haven't caught a lot of them in my years fishing but they are fun to catch. It may be hard to make a video on it but I may give it a try this summer. Thanks!
You could, but you would have to be with that person the whole time, the security cruises around the lake 24/7. Also you have to have a community pass card. My mom lives there so that's how I was able to fish there.
Hi there. Thanks for subscribing. I don't like to give exact locations cause it can overwhelm the spot. I will say that it's in Newport Back Bay. Best I can do. Hope that helps.
Hi there ebmixez. Some bait and tackle shops have them. Maybe a seafood market. Big Fish Bait and Tackle in Seal Beach sells them. I would probably call in advance to make sure though. As far as store bought frozen mussels, I've never tried them. I would imagine they would work, but probably not as good as fresh.
@@anglertoanglerfishing6652 TY for the reply ! I’m going to the Newport Jetty tomorrow hopefully I can catch something ! Is there any other live bait you recommend for the jetty’s ?
@@ebmixez7621 if you can catch some live smelt, they are good for Bass, Halibut and barracuda. Use a sabiki rig with the smallest hooks usually size 14 or 16.
Don’t mean to be a hater but handling cuda with a towel kills them. Just handle them overboard with some pliers if the slime bothers you. Cool video though
No worries man. Duly noted. I'm all about catch and release. It was a wet towel. I usually try to release them with the pliers but sometimes you gotta grab them to get the hooks out. But I appreciate the advice and concern. I will do my best in future videos to make sure to release them with minimal grabbing. Thanks man!👍
Great Video. I was out yesterday as well in back bay. Spotties were stacked up. Small halibut also about same size as what you got! Love your videos keep em coming.
