Imagine being an Ahri main an being told the skin is not for you it's for the ones that can afford it. Like who are we kidding here, the $500 is way better than the base model. Let's not forget that everyone is banning your champion. Really good looking Ahri skin comes out, Ahri mains are the ones that are losing. Makes sense.

I understand the physical ahri thing being cheaper cuz what else are you gonna do to it? Put it in a jar? The pixel Ahri is the one you actually play with so of course it'd be priced higher
Hack riot games and give every player enough rp to buy said skin. Then have every player do a report asking for the funds back when they inevitably take it away
i think the best way they could have actually honored faker is by giving ALL league players who download this game, you get ahri and fakers free skin. SO EVERYONE and future players can know the impact faker had, then put another cooler versions that you can also pay for to support riot. but to be blatantly greedy is why i dont spend money on this game anymore, if things were reasonably priced and not greedy id probably buy more skins here and there. but with battle passes and 500 dollars skins, and prestige skins locked behind a pay wall, money money money, thats all you care about and fuck you. give me skins i can earn, gimme skins for champs that require challenges. gimme skins that arent fucking whole meals i would rather spend my money then a damn skin. make them reasonable for what you re selling which is essentially nothing but coding ON A GAME. and you will probably be getting more and more people spending 5-10 dollars all the time. you have a player base riot and you are pushing more players away from spending money by doing this blatant greed, and people are really really tired of giving money to companies that are turning into $$$$ monsters
If you are broke then don't buy it, its embarrassing seeing so many people cry nobodys forcing you to buy it, there are different price points for everything in the world that exists you could buy a bottle of water for $300 or a shirt for $50,000, not everything is meant for everyone

The problem is not the price its what you get for it(though spoiler alert i don't think there's anything in gaming that warrants that kind of price). The price feels so insincere they're just slapping the highest price they can because they know someone will be dumb enough to buy it, what's making me more mad is that they're trying to justify this by pretending the 500$ tag is reasonable and trying to gaslight the players that riot is not the problem, you're just too poor to be the target audience. Its so distasteful and out of touch that it makes me not want to buy anything from them in the future.
As an indie developer I want to be charitable to the guys take on Reddit who said shaming people for spending money on a game they spend hours on is embarrasing. I agree somewhat, but It's not just about that, if you're willingly supporting a company who is engaging in malicious or predatory practices, I think being shamed for that is fair, a lot of modern games use underhanded, manipulative shitty tactics to get people to pay money and I think defending that because of time spent is a little misguided. A game should earn it's revenue not pry it from your hands.
Of course it created frustration among the player base. They dedicated enough resources to put out a video to advertise the new skin. This has nothing to do with attracting the 'whales'. They are out ot attract those who cannot afford it, yet lack the self control to NOT buy this skin. That is who they are targetting imo.
Comparing a digital fucking skin to a physical object is crazy once the league servers shutdown the skin aswell as the 500€ are gone my statue will last me forever as long a i keep taking care of it.
