Hello my friends🙂
I am building this small cabin so that I can stay on my off grid property where I'm building the main log cabin from big round logs. I'll only be in this small cabin temporarily until I get the main log cabin done.

More about me:
When I was 20 years old, I dropped out of college and said to myself that I will do what I really want and what I see meaning in. So I decided to build my dream log cabin, all by myself, in the middle of an off-grid bush.
After I left school, I went to work for a while to earn money for trees and hand tools. I spent all the money I earned and my savings on it. Thank God, I already owned the land I have - I got it from my dear parents as a gift and I also bought another part of the land with my own money.
I chose a log cabin for my home because I like it. I build it with the vision of living a simple and peaceful life in it. Having time is more important to me than having money. Of course, nowadays a person cannot live without money, but I would like to live in such a way that my expenses are not so high and thus reduce the need for money. I want to have time not only for myself, but also for my future wife and children. That's why I will try to build the most self-sufficient life possible, in which my own housing, in my case a log cabin, will be the heart of this system.
I use hand tools because they are my favorite. There is beauty in simplicity.
Working with hand tools has several advantages: You are able to work off-grid, the entire set of tools you need can fit in one bag, there is better safety when you work alone, you don´t make too much noise when you´re working... so I enjoy it more and I believe you will too, while watching :)
Sometimes you will still see me use power tools for some things where I can't avoid it completely, such as drilling through metal roofing or welding, but otherwise I will always try to use primarily hand tools.
My dear father is a carpenter. He taught me how to work with wood from a young age, but I have no experience with building a log cabin, so I'm learning everything as I go, and I'm looking forward to what this experience will teach me.
Thank you all for your attention. Enjoy!

Hello my friends🙂 I am building this small cabin so that I can stay on my off grid property where I'm building the main log cabin from big round logs. I'll only be in this small cabin temporarily until I get the main log cabin done. My main goal for this cabin is that I want it to be super cheap and super quick to build. I build this cabin as an alternative to a hot tent so I didn't want to spend a lot of money and time on this cabin. I have a big main log cabin for that :D That's why I used fresh boards for the walls, which are much cheaper than dry boards. I also saved on parts such as the sink from a rotten rv camper, or the homemade 12v batery pack, the faucet is also second-hand, it doesn't seal well and water drips into the sink, but only when there is pressure in. As I don't have constant pressure in it, it's not a problem for me. I got the roof tiles and two large tanks for free, and I already own the cast iron stove. So I was able to build this cabin very very cheaply. Total spend is roughly 350 Euros (378 USD). Thank you all for the positive comments. I appreciate it very much. YOU are very skilled and I really admire what you are doing. I wish I was not disbled and in a hospital bed. How I dream to be in a tiny house in the woods. I cannot think of how to accommodate a hospital bed! Man it is just so cool! I am thinking of trying to have a tiny house built to put in my Dad's backyard of his house. My Dad is open to it. I would have to have electricity though. I am thinking about it. Love your video. Thanks so much for posting. Just so happy for young people who can do this, live off grid and live in nature. Proud of you! Good luck to you!

As I was watching this, I was amazed by the effort you put into it - running water? A nice stove and so forth. But I was scoffing at the fact of the insecure stovepipe - would never withstand harsh weather like that, and the complete lack of insulation. No effort to withstand the winter for yourself or your cabin. You'd freeze to death, stove or not where I come from. Then I saw your post and realized it was temporary as you were building a main home. In that case, well done.

I like your analysis and use of wood and materials. You have controlled the overall construction method and labor to the lowest cost. You have the brains and physical strength to complete the construction goals. This is what I admire most about you. . I look forward to you completing more construction of your home environment in the future. There should be a lot of construction equipment to be completed on this land, and the design and construction of garden landscaping is also a science. I suggest you think more about water, electricity and green energy. Combine with ecology to create a beautiful ecological home, so that you can grow vegetables, fruits and live a self-sufficient life.

You should run vertical strapping before you lay the horizontal strapping for the roofing. That allows egress of condensation that forms under the tiles as the hot and humid air cools in the evening. As it stands the moisture will eventually rot your horizontal supports. Also if you choke up on your hammer grip a bit, it will take fewer strikes to sink a nail.

What a great idea with the way you built walls from the planks. There's no holes and there's no need to use many nails. 👍🏻

A few things, the smaller cabin is just glorious! The fact you have just the essentials to survive is like every minimalists dream! U dont need some 15 bedroom palatial mansion. You need a simple cabin in the woods. Also, the skill and determination you have is enviable! Wish i could do this. Lastly, my only criticisms would be the electrics, i think this should be last resort if u needed them, and i would have used some protective paint inside and outside the cabin to help it blend in with nature.

You have an eye for detail that many as young as you would not see. The cabin is great, you might appreciate a heavy duty curtain across you door when winter arrives, it will help cut the draft! There’s not many that can say their wooden shed has a fully tiled roof. Once your main cabin is completed you can always repurpose the shed for something else. True recycling.❤

Very nice, can use it for guest after your cabin is built. Or rent it very cheap. Always someone in need of a roof over their head. Add a out house lol 😂

In this day & age it’s vital we realise the privilege required to achieve building a cabin like featured in this video & recognise that it’s not all “hard work & made from nothing” as advertised- things he had that many don’t: 1. He grew up in a supportive family with father who helps transport things to his land 2. He used family money to buy the land 3. He was born by luck into a country where wilderness exists & where he won’t be kicked off his own land for building a hut without permission of the council 4. Either that or he was born in a country where councils don’t require permission to build on own land 5. He was taught these skills either by someone skilled (likely his father), or had the resources & time & family wealth to learn & practise from online videos 6. Family wealth to buy tools 7. Wealth to buy all of that expensive wood / materials 8. Opportunity to cut things out of a “rotten RV” - many countries you never even see an RV in your lifetime let alone a rotten one 9. Has a passport to live in a country where weather is that nice to have sunshine & nice climate 10. Permission to live in a country with enough trees such that they aren’t protected by order of the government 11. Chad light looks in genetics - will have no problem finding a girlfriend & living a happy life accepted by society 12. Enough resources to fund the super expensive materials for a huge log cabin build & time to build it as well as cameras & opportunity to “receive” free stuff like water tanks. It is important we recognise these privileged traits as many many a folk don’t have any one of these 12 things & could not do what he’s done no matter how hard they try. Simply having the land would be a huge stumbling block for many, working until they’re 89 never able to afford land no matter how hard they save- and then never being granted permission once they finally have it, let alone the rest of it. I feel it’s important point this out because a lot of folk out there will feel bad & useless for not having the opportunity to do the same. I’m lucky as I’m in a privileged position but the difference is I don’t make out I did it all for free or from scratch. Those of us who are privileged lean heavily on family. Despite the common misconception that “opportunities are made”, it’s unfortunately bs made up by the privileged to justify their position - don’t feel bad if you didn’t have these opportunities- it’s not your fault.
