Thats brilliant I have just ordered this set up for my local river stour it's quite narrow with very few awkward swims but I have seen a few barbel last season
I’ve been fishing for like a couple years now but most canals are scarce on pike these days and the ones around tend to be small jacks. So I took up the small scaled down approach to catch and started my perch journey absolutely loved it so far.
Brilliant! Been on hols there for last 10 years. Bit further up the coast youve gòt dancing ledge, Winspit, Kimmeridge bay &Tyneham all really good spots to roam & cast. Only 9 weeks & I'm back to beautiful Swanage.
When the going is tough, I find it is not always a question of how much bait, but consistency of the bait you are putting out. This season on my water, the fish are very widespread, rolling all over the lake and not committing to any area. The odd fish passes through the swim for a quick feed before moving on. I therefore, spomb a very wet groundbait mix with no added extras. Enough to send out a big scent cloud to lure them in. That way in theory, the first thing any tench entering your swim will see is your feeder/hook bait 👌. As far as "the code" is concerned. It can never be cracked. It's tench fishing. Nothing ever makes sense! 🙈
