Great reasons to watch ur stream. Thanks so much 🤗🙏🏻🤗. P.S. This w/e could be storms for Florida 😩 and next week it might be our turn in Lake Charles, LA. 😩

The longer the length of time before a hurricane or TS allows more heat energy to build in the oceans and gulf. And we have global warming, don't forget. Plus, sulfur emissions have been reduced in shipping, increasing the radiative forcing on the waters. Lastly, the gulf wasn't particularly busy last year, so when the storms get going, I think they're really going to blow.

It's why on my Twitter I sent people to you because the clickbait that people are doing is ridiculous. The recency bias does not make it reality because we have some early name tropical storms for the past few years has nothing to do with the future. There are people who love weather and someone like myself who loves weather it's disgusting what a lot of these people are doing. Glad we have a voice of sanity here. I don't understand all that clickbait don't these people understand that they're going to lose credibility and when it comes time when there is a hurricane who are they going to turn to? I will tell anyone who follows weather and wants the truth @justweather Oh and by the way love the word crunchy lawn.. I'm here in Queens New York I have cheap cement sorry no crunchy lawn for me! The media isn’t over pushing anything. NOAA is forecasting the season. Not the media. I broke down why the high forecasts but make no mistake about it the media isn’t doing what you say. Crystal River hardly gets hit. It only takes one though. - Jonathan

I grew up in Florida and lived there in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s. Florida went through an extended quiet period in the 1970s and 80s. Pretty much no meaningful hurricanes hit during those 2 decades. A few hit the panhandle, but the Florida panhandle then was considered a backwater and didn’t have any impact on home insurance rates in the rest of Florida. Hurricanes in Florida actually weren’t a thing until Hurricane Andrew hit. Perhaps the weather patterns were different in the 1970s and 80s, but other than the panhandle Florida just didn’t get hit by hurricanes then.

Every other Atlantic hurricane analysis I've seen is just the opposite ... almost NO limiting factors and any state on the Atlantic or Gulf of Mexico better prepare for disasters.
@just_weather
@just_weather 7 дней назад
There’s always limiting factors. If you listened to the analysis I mentioned that other things should prevail…however if the season is whiter than expected this is the reason why. For example…the extremely warmer pacific could help to promote more storms over there. The basins typically don’t compete with each other. When one is active the other isn’t as active. And I mentioned that everyone needs to be prepared. - Jonathan

also, true. Only takes one. I was in Harvey in Houston in 2017. So as much as I rage type against the media fear mongering, yes. It only takes one. Have an emergency plan, yes. And also don’t allow myself to engage with the irrational fear mongerers.
@nozrep
@nozrep 7 дней назад
i also read a fantastic local Houston weather blog called SpaceCityWeather with meteorologists Matt Lanza and Eric Berger. They are super super matter of fact and dry. And historical. While simultaneously writing daily forecasts in an interesting way. They noted on a recent blog post, analyzing historical storms, that Texas’s coast’s worst storms have often occurred in a transition between La Niña and El Niño. They speak specifically regionally only about Houston and the Texas coast. And so it will of course be different in other regions. Nevertheless, their indisputably factual, historical breakdowns, that they do every once in a while, very much lend assuagement and perspective when compared against all the fear mongering retards on the internet and on TV.
@nozrep
@nozrep 7 дней назад
looks like you are in a certifiable newsroom as a like an actual weather broadcaster. Therefore I will assume that you are highly aware of all the fear mongering that goes on in the media. Fear mongering across all subjects. But also fear mongering about hurricanes. Every. Single. Expletive expletive year. Every single year. And then, when we do get a terrible storm, as obviously does happen, but not every year, the fear mongerers additionally take credit and say see we told you so even though they were definitely not correct and were definitely fear mongering for the clickbait and views and whatnot. Welp. That’s how it goes, unfortunately. So I just say expletive #%*&! them and have a plan for my own self understanding that actual risk does exist in Houston especially. But that the media mongerers are rarely worth wasting my time on watching. So, in conclusion, it is refreshing to see someone out here on the interwebs say that heyeee yah it might not be that bad at all actually😅
