A channel to show what I get up to in my Caterham 7 that I call Fern. This includes upgrades, new parts, track days, crashes, driving days, club days and much more. I don't think there is enough content about Caterham's from actual owners. There is lots of content of You Tubers hiring a Caterham for a week, but I use Fern as my daily car. I will show successes and failures generally and when doing upgrades to the car. I bought Fern in 2020 and she is a 2012 Caterham Supersport 140. Please subscribe 👍
wait a minute. I was bout to say the half doors should be the same colour as the wheels, but you have different colour wheels front and back!? But I think white is would fit, because your role bar, the lines and "caterham" on the side of the car are white. And if all the wheel will be white, you will have a nice green-white colour scheme.
Yes good spot. I will explain in the next video why I had those wheels on. Also don't worry all wheels will be white. I'm leaning towards green, but white is a possibility. I do have some white wrap so I might give that a try.
Great video! Do you use an anti-corrosion spray after drilling a hole in your bodywork? I recently had to drill a few new holes in my floor when fitting a new seat and thought it best.
@@ACaterhamCalledFern I used to have a Tillett seat on the passenger side. I switched it out for a new cloth seat from CC. My regular passenger is much happier!
Thanks GRP as they were cheaper and I knew I would paint them. If money wasn't an issue I would have gone for the carbon half doors. The GRP ones are so light I wonder how much lighter the carbon ones are. I think it was around £75 import tax for the GRP. It's the first time I've paid import tax for ages. You could always email westermann to see how much the import tax will be. I'm really impressed with the weatermann half doors. Did you like the sneak peek video? Thanks yes I'm leaning more towards green.
I also carry a spare clutch cable, as I have had two snap on me 😞. The AA can put together a temporary cable, it's a lot less hassle if you can ask them to fit a new one on the roadside. Otherwise, I hope you continue to enjoy your Caterham. I have had mine (1997 Superlight with the Rover 1.6 K series engine) for over twenty years, and enjoy it more every year. PS I am fitting a Meteor Motorsport aeroscreen shortly, having watched your video showing how straightforward it is to fit (this is a a result of my windscreen being smashed by a pigeon and replacements being on a 6 - 8 week delivery).
Hey a clutch cable is a good idea if you have one. A friend of mine has had his snap on him. Fern doesn't have a clutch cable it's fluid. I really like my meteor motorsport aeroscreen. A clear one just makes sense. I would advise having someone help you fit it if you can. Just so you can see both sides. Measure lots drill once 😀
Nice competition James. In fact my Seven is off to NM tomorrow for a TB fitting after my plenum blew its side out during its first attempted start after its winter rest. I think the weight of Fern + James + stuff will be about 638Kg.
