Cold climate gardening in my small backyard using vertical gardening, raised beds, square foot gardening, and my urban homesteading skills. From my garden in Zone 3, Saskatchewan, I grow a full cut flower garden, lots of perennials, and delicious vegetables. If I can grow it with my challenging growing conditions, so can you.
Zone 3b and my Carnations and Geum plants are doing amazing. Im quite surprised because Fall is here, but the leaves on the Geum look like I would expect them to in July. 😊
How does anyone prevent the squirrels from digging them up? I can't plant a single bulb without the neighborhood Squirrel Mafia in my garden by night fall. Come morning, there is nothing left.
I live in the Highlands of Scotland and the weather can be very harsh. Temps can regularly drop to minus 12 in winter. Eucalyptus is very fast growing and can grow 6ft / 2m per annum.
My cousin is getting married the first week of July in Winnipeg. Her colors are dark blue and red. Im so intimidated by what to grow. Im scared no annuals will be ready!
@@grapefruitpineapple7667 the first week of July is tricky, but if you can do some cool flowers you should be able to have things. I have a book on it for cold climates-the Frost Proof Flower Garden
Hello . Mine hasn't bloomed in years. I've changed different places. For the longest time it was on my desk at work in direct light only. Now it's by a window and still no blooms. There are a lot of branches in the pot, could it be that it's too crowded? Thanks Louise
Any suggestions for a dry, shaded area that has to compete with fibrous shallow tree roots? Also, have dry, sunny areas elsewhere with much less tree root competition but the soil past 8 inches is clay and rocky. Any suggestions for these areas? Sedums, cat mint, salvia, and bearded irises are the backbone of my garden, but would like some options that make the garden pop with interest for mid summer and fall.
Nice arrangement!! Beautiful Fall colours, you could add floral foam to the bowl. It's easy to cut down to size, you could add a little hot glue if needed, then place the chicken wire on top. Floral foam can be dry or wet depending on what your needs are.
It’s very pretty. See if the coated chicken wire makes a difference and tighten up the ‘ball’ more. Maybe you need two ‘balls’ in that large vessel to give the stems more stability.
