I'm looking forward to this, but I'm a bit worried with the upscale that has been going on with the Collection sets. The trailer doesn't really put me at ease with it, nor did the Season 15 restoration which looked like they used some AI upscaling, especially in the film sequences for Invasion of Time.
I wasn't bothered about the Blu-ray collections, until now! I pre-ordered this as soon as it was announced. Then I bought a Blu-ray player, cus I didn't have one. Then I bought Seasons 8, 12, 14, 24 and 26 to watch whilst I'm waiting for my preorder in October. Season 25 was my first series I saw on first Broadcast. McCoy is MY Doctor. And Remembrance is my favourite story of classic Who. Loving the Blu-ray. Especially the Gogglebox like 'Behind the sofa". Great video, as always btw 👍
Without even looking I can tell you it's another false hope. At the most there are only a handful still out there anyway. Just go ahead and animate them all already.
Turlough went home to Trion, he didn't stay on Sarn. Typical BBC picking Alexei Sayle to interview out of 'Revelation of the Daleks' - Eleanor Bron??!!! William Gaunt?!!!! - I'm sure the interview was 5% Doctor Who and 95% Far Left, Marxist bile.
Cool series 25 is my favourite Sylvester morcoy series of doctor who and we two era of doctor who complete with are Silvester mcory and Colin baker and I love remembrance of the daleks
Also, this is one set where I'll not only be buying the limited edition rather than holding out for the cheaper standard edition, I'll be buying it day one. Unlike some people I don't mind the mismatch of sizes between the two on my shelf.
This release had been rumoured for a couple of month now. It's probably my most wanted among all the as yet unreleased seasons so nice to see it confirmed. Can we have some Troughton or Hartnell next though, please BBC, especially as season 5 was the other rumoured set.
Short of a curveball of the 1st or 2nd Doctor next year, I’m guessing we get a pertwee and the last Davison next year as we’ve had a 4th and 7th this year.
Hi Adam. Just wanted to let you know that The Making of Doctor Who documentary was produced by a "Public Broadcasting Station" (called a PBS station by Americans) in the state of New Jersey called New Jersey Network. If you are not already familiar, a PBS station in America is funded by Federal funds, state taxes and donations from actual viewers (usually about 25 dollars per donation but some gave more). PBS stations would run education programs, children's programming and "artsy" programing much of which was just programs from the BBC and other British productions. New Jersey Network Assistant Producer Erik Luskin took a small film crew to England in 1987/88 to put this documentary together and I think he did an amazing job! I to am looking forward to watching this again because it is just as good today (and as you remembered it) as it was back in 1988 when it was a first shown on NJN. I also recall this documentary being shared with other PBS stations across The United States for their use during fund raising drives throughout the year. Sadly, The New Jersey Network (NJN) was shut down in the early 2000's by then Republican Governor Chris Christie (fyi American Republicans tend to dislike PBS stations because they fell it is a waste of public funds that would be better spent giving tax breaks to the mega wealthy). Thankfully Erik Luskin is still involved with Public Broadcasting as he is now working for a PBS in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (WHYY). Anyway, thank you for the heads up about this exciting season 25 blu ray release. I can't wait to give it a favorable review on Amazon. My guess is American fans will get this in early 2025 as there is usually a 90 day lag behind from the UK release. Enjoy Adam! And take care my friend.
This announcement got me really excited. I was betting my bottom dollar it would be a Troughton season, but I don’t mind having a whole era beat him to the range, especially one as unique as McCoy’s.
About time a whole doctors era aside from 6 (by seasons at least, even though his debut story was in twin dilemma in season 21. Confusing fun.) was completed for blu ray. Cant wait
MY FAVOURITE SEASON OF DOCTOR WHO! I'm so happy. Immediate pre-order for me. Remembrance of the Daleks was actually my first classic Who story and I adore it
It's funny, I was just longingly staring at my blu ray collection wondering when they're going to announce the next one lol. it would be good timing except I do that a lot
As someone who lives in the USA, I know that we will eventually get a region one version of this, but do you know The likelihood that we will get a region one set of the 60th specials and Ncuti new season on my side of the pond or do you think I might have to import them?
Not a clue unfortunately! With Disney involved, a Region 1 release of any Who post-2023 is unlikely for the near future as they want people to access it via Disney+
Omg this is Excellent!! So happy s25 is up next in the collection range. So we can tick off McCoy’s era of episodes. Still waiting for s7 to be on blu ray next. Time will tell, it always does…
I stick to the standard editions purely because I missed out on the limited sets for 12 & 19 so I thought I’d just continue with the standards to keep things consistent.
I picked up the special edition of this for £28 at a car boot sale. Only time I’ve ever come across one of these blu ray boxes in the wild. Guy wanted £30 - thought Id be cheeky and knock a couple of £ off and he agreed 😮.
