I like The Daleks in Colour

I have watched the Daleks in it's original black and white iteration from my DVD collection and love the story so was curious to see how the colourised version would turn out and was surprised how much I enjoyed watching this so much so I decided to get a copy on steelbook which should be arriving any day now for me to dive into and relive watching William Hartnell in colour all over again in the most important story whom without it Doctor Who wouldn't have celebrated 60 years. I have the Peter Cushing stories in glorious Technicolor so it's only right we have the chance to see how it would of looked with the original doctor as he was there 1st!

Hmm, that second disc is a bit naughty. This should have been a bluray in HD.

Great hearing your thoughts as always Adam! I'll be getting that steelbook :) Just a question regarding the standard edition, is the sleeve reversible like the animations so you see a classic cover with the grey top or have they not done that with this release?

I think as you said, it was much tighter and worked for the most part. My biggest issue was with the sound mix. I'm looking forward to more of this. I'd even be interested in tarted up and trimmed versions of the colour classic stories too.

Thought the edited version was ok although didn’t like the flashback moments Don’t tend to buy outside of the collection so not planning to get this one

That's a bit disappointing that the BLU-RAY release contains a DVD! Seems like a missed opportunity to release the full 7 part version in HD. Even if they'd converted the SD masters to HD it would have been an improvement in quality over the DVD.

Strange that although the tin is very colourful, the photos on it are still monochrome.

I give it credit for being experimental, even though that it doesn't always work. But hey. At least we have the colourisation on Blu ray and I would like to see more Hartnell on Blu ray like with The Collection sets like Season 2 which I have as well as animations of lost stories like Galaxy 4 which I have and The Celestial Toymaker which I currently have on pre order.

Surprised RTD didn't colour them in rainbow shades to be honest....

I have the daleks on dvd And I have doctor who and the daleks on dvd and tried watching in the daleks in colour and couldn't get into it it is because I am used to watching classic Dr who from the 1960st in black and white on dvd and on online websites

I am disappointed it’s edited. Should have kept it intact and episodic as transmitted. If they are going to colourize them that is how they need to do them. Not interested in abridged versions.

"The Daleks Ruined" by a rainbow of hideous colours chosen in 1963 for TONE on a monochrome screen and not intended to be the actual colours of the METAL city. Then FOUR episodes of material cut our of it for people with zero attention span.
