Welcome to Make/Do - we are James & David, two makers making props and replicas from our favorite movies, TV, and video games! Our goal is to make making doable, with approachable techniques and relatively non-exotic materials our projects are easy to replicate for the average maker. How did you get all the support material out of the cracks? I printed mine standing up with normal supports (probably should have used tree supports). And there is support material all through the cracks and it is not easy to get out of the cracks. Don't really want to do another 19 hour print.
We did have this issues when we initially tried printing the hammer in FDM. We ended up printing in Resin - the supports came out much easier. I would think that using tree supports on an FDM printer might help though!
The site to purchases these says recommend a resin printer. FDM printers wouldn’t be able to print this? I don’t see any crazy small details that would prevent it…?
In our testing we found that FDM printers could not reliable print this design (due to details and very thin parts). We highly recommend using a resin printer for this particular design.
Use a brush with the color you taped over, white in your case. The paint is more likely to build up in those corners and fill the gaps in the tape. Leaves a nice sharp line ever time.
hi i was wondering if you could make me a hinox from botw to scale for the new link figure? could you also paint it and if possible could you make it articulated? ill pay
I would've left the front grille detachable with magnets. There's a star wars novel called "Death Troopers" where stormtroopers and imperial officers are turned into zombies from an unknown virus. The troopers' helmets have the front grille and chin section ripped out so the zombies can feed
That really looks amazing man! I’ve been wanting to make one and even the top channels just didn’t have one that looked that great. YOURS looks amazing. It’s a shame your channel doesn’t have more subs. I can’t imagine what you could make with more $$$ :)
Thank you so much - we have taken a bit of a break from the channel but we should be back soon with some more awesome projects. Hearing your amazing feedback is super encouraging!’n
We did not! This is mainly a display piece, if we were to use if for cosplay i would recommend a gloss clear coat. I would probably do some testing to make the silver paint doesn't become dull.
is there any way you can give me a step by step explaining on how you prepare your helmets like paint them and put them together? I have asked other people, and they didn't respond.
I've been a member of my local 501st detachment for a few years. This looks just as nice if not better than the "screen accurate" kits we work with. Spectacular work.
@make432 Do you guys have the modified top wooden handle part file available anywhere? I cut and grinded some out of the the mid section, but I too have the same battery's and might be easier to just have it printed to fit. Thanks!!
we are currently printing on the Bambu p1s - us.store.bambulab.com/products/p1s not the cheapest but a great low hassle options. We did start (like many others) on the Creality Ender 3. It is a great learner printer.
