Hello from beautiful British Columbia! I made this channel to share my journey and exploration of the Traditional Wet Shaving. Hopefully with my videos I'll be also able to share valuable shaving advice or information about interesting products. Let's explore the enjoyable ways of shaving!
Yeah, this is the real deal 🎉 I've got R94 and GC spin-off DS Cosmetics S9 and that's exactly my feel as well but with your original GC is more relevant of course. Rocca for me drives blade away from the skin, while GC digs bit into the skin and sometimes got me an ingrown neck hair by going too close. Rocca makes my beard grow much softer and postpone next shave for 48hrs. Great comparisson! Thanks 😊
Thank you JMac! After one shave I think that this is my new number 1 set. Need to confirm with few more shaves. Thank you brother, enjoy a great weekend as well! Oh and Happy Thanksgiving eh! ☺
Feather and Gillette Silver Blue are my favorites. Others which come close or about as good (for me that is, not for everybody) are Loi Titanium, Personna Comfort Coated, and some of the Gillette 7 O'Clock ones.
Thanks for sharing your favorites. First time hearing about the Loi blades, will check them out. I have a box of Personna Comfort Coated, still haven't tried them but heard good things.
It really depends what your criteria is. The Rocca is efficient and it's delivering good results after 1st pass. For my criteria for super close shave I need at least 2 passes - one WTG followed by XTG or ATG. That's how I feel for all of the razors that I own.
I have been using Alum after my shaves from when I started shaving over 50 years ago. Dad was a trained barber from the old country and this is one of the things that he taught me. I let it dry on my shaved skin while I am cleaning up my equipment, then rinse it off before I apply any post shave product. Works great, keeps my skin clear and clean. Wouldn't do without. Great informative video.
Thank you so much for sharing and I'm glad that you enjoyed the video! I wish I knew way earlier about the alum. It's also one of my favorite post shaves steps. Cheers!
So interesting how YMMV. I like more mid razors. The rocca is nice but a tad much. I can use it but have to take my time. The GC 84 was way too mild. Can’t get even close to BBS with it. I tried 2 shims in it the other day to make a 1.04 close to the 1.05 plate they offer. That finally provides me a BBS shave. Yet I feel the rocca is smoother than the twice shimmed GC 1.04 😂
Ohhh that's very interesting! But as you said YMMV is big factor in our hobby. We all have different skin, beard, technique etc. It keeps things intriguing 😄
Thank you brother! Will keep it in mind. I have the Zingari's unscented and it's awesome, assuming that this will be identical performance. I just wanted to have the complete set.
Yeah, I learned this from my first try with it. That's why I use it now only for whipping lathers to clean new brushes and it goes in the drain after. A friend told me that the Wilkinson cream actually doesn't build lather. It's made to be layered with fingers and not mix with water. It's written on the back, but I didn't bother to check when I got it 😂
the better soap does a way better job imo even if it costs more. I soak the brush and everything but i let the cream sit in the brush for a but to moisturize the bristles. So a better soap will work better for this. Maybe clean the first time and then use the better soap to let sit in the bristles. I then brush against a cotton towel for a while too and when I am done the boar is almost as soft as synthetic only alot of backbone. On top of that alot cheaper than quality badger. Just my two cents not knocking you in any way. I just cant stand poor performing shave soaps and i have bought expensive types that suck also!
@@AdamWoody-q4n very good points! Appreciate the advice and sharing your tips and experience! I learn a lot from everyone's comments, so please keep sharing advices. They are always welcome, it helps me and others 🙏❤ Cheers!
To break in my Semogue Owners Club & 620, I pre-soaked them in warm water followed by lathering up with shaving soap as usual but then leave the lather on overnight. I thought it worked wonders; brush smell was also reduced substantially. Then onwards used it as normal, enjoyed breaking period.
Haha, you finally did it! Nice video bro with lots of mentioning of my name😂! This is THE BLADE! Try KAI next time. My top 3 are: 1.Feather; also 1. Kai, 3. Gillette Nacet. I’m really happy you liked your birthday present (Mülle Rocca) and that you also liked my favorite blades. Cheers!
Nice shave. I have a bunch of Feather blades, Astra superior Platinums and Derby blades and the feather are definitely the closest shaving of them all. Are you Canadian?
Hey Lyubo great shave, I always said Feather Hi Stainless is the best blade. They aren't wider as others. This Rocca is the most beautiful Rocca of all. Have a great weekend!
Thank you Robert! Indeed a great start for me with the Feathers. And as we discussed before about the Rocca - I have nothing to add brother, it's a gorgeous razor! Enjoy a great weekend as well my friend!
Glad that you like it Nazz. I feel that I need to do more shaves with mine, mainly to dial my ATG passes with it. I'm curious to try the Level 1 plate as well. Hopefully we'll have the option to order the plate separately.
Try alum as a deodorant, it could take 2 or 3 days to kill the bacteria in the skin, but after that you will never go back. It doesn't stop sweating but will stop bad odors.
Thanks for sharing. I love learning about the different results that others get. This will help people understand that it's ok and normal to try something and not like it. ☺
Hi Lyubo I use only when I have cut's and then only for a minute and then wash up with clear water. Tobin Fetters had made a Video way the natural stone much more better is. Have a great day and week 😊
Thank you Robert! Thanks for mentioning about that video, it got my interest and I'll search for it. I love Tobin's channel, seems that I missed on this one.
Nice one Lyubo! I use it for grip with skin stretching, can’t tolerate it as a post shave though as for me it increases redness and irritation. Have a great day brother!
Thank you brother! Really great point, I'm not doing skin stretching and completely forgot to mention this as well as the good grip that it can provide for slippery razors. Bummer that it doesn't work for you. I get the same from the White Proraso soap, big red patches and irritation after using it. Enjoy a fantastic day and week ahead brother!
@@ShaveAndTell you’re most welcome! It seems like it’s a pretty even ratio… 50% of shavers can use it for a post shave with great results, and the other 50% have terrible results.
Great Review Brother. Been considering picking up the Level 2 TRC Stainless. Yea that handle can use some better knurling. Was kind of surprised there wouldn’t have been more blade feel with the Gap and exposure. All and all great shave, hope all Is well.
Thank you brother, appreciate you stopping by! I don't know how it compares to the Level 1 plate, but the blade feel is a bit less than what I expected - it's comfortable. For my technique I had to be a bit careful on the ATG pass. I'm doing well, just the usual hectic time at the end of the summer. Hope that you are doing good too! Enjoy a great weekend!
The artisan soaps that I tried so far are all doing great job in terms of lather performance. I like some more than others, but that's subjective. Worth mentioning that "protection" to me can be a bit misleading in terms of lather property or expectation. I expect a good lather to soften the whiskers, provide good hydration and slickness, so the blade can slide & cut smoothly. The lather can't protect us from nicks and razor burn - that's on our technique.
