What potato varieties do you recommend for uk allotment, thanks
@AllotmentBook

What grows well on a plot depends on local conditions, but on my plot with sand silt soil, my favourite variety to grow is a main crop variety called picasso. Pink fir apple is an interesting salad potato that grows well. You may like to see this page too: www.allotmentbook.co.uk/contents/potatoes/. Good luck with your growing!

Newbie here. Just aquired an allotment with two polytunnels. Looking forward to learning more about growing in them. Question... Will Florence Fennel grow best in a polytunnel or no? Thanks x

Thanks for the video. You mentioned how much concrete, what sized base was this for? Is there a good formula for depth of concrete and square footage of shed?

Thanks for this. I have not had luck with the little bush I bought a month ago to honour of my Dad.... Spots on leaves and everything leaf fell to the ground... so sad... I was wondering if it is possible to grow it from the fruits. we are in Newfoundland where the weather is similar to England. P S Fun fact : we are the Number one city in the world for fog... AKA Free facial days...

Just finished watching your 4 part series. Really good presentation, and focus on the time of year which is sometimes lacking in some gardening videos that could be watched any time after they have been released. Very informative and helpful. I was brought here because i was thinking of sowing red clover once harvest is completed around my strawberries. What do you think?

Informative video. I'm new to using one personally, and was wondering about a lot of this. I'd add though that a Respirator is better for the steps mentioned than a face mask, as the latter isn't designed to protect the wearer, rather all those around them (they're known as Surgical Masks for that reason); a Respirator by contrast is designed specifically to protect the wearer. That; and it's notable that most Water Butt's are designed with compatible filtration on the downpipe attachment 🙂

Thanks for the information. This will really help. I think those damn ants spread mold spores throughout the tree and other types of problems. I have found out you can spray with diluted dishsoap, or very diluted bleach to control the mould. And of course the soap will help with the Aphids too. Suggestion I heard on the garden radio program, regarding ants nests, take a large dustbin, line with a very heavy duty garbage bin liner (construction bags) (20ml or thicker)(Home Depot or similar) fill with loose soil, put a big flat board on the top and then upend it in the spot where the ants are. Pull the board out a little bit so that the soil is in contact with the ground. Wait a few months. Ants love a dry home and will move into it, converting into the best Ant Hotel in Town. On garbage day, just before the truck comes, turn it back over, seal up the bag and take to the curb. They are smart little things, and will vacate quickly if you give them a chance. You might even want to double bag it just to be sure! So next Spring I will be using that tree oil for a tree band on the main trunk and also on the three main limbs from the main truck. There are many deep bark caverns on the trunk and also on the joint where the three main trucks sprout. That space is also an Ants Nest I think, so I am sure that is going to get treated with Ant Dust. This has become the year of lessons learned! Six years ago, we were delighted to move into an acreage with a big old cherry tree - three types grafted onto the tree. Then came the "Crow War" they were about and of course extremely noisy! They stripped the tree ! As I had been successful with a "Magpie War' in our previous home in Alberta (basically driving them off with a long jetted pressure hose, they were allowed to return only if they were quiet) - I treated the Crows in the same manner. Except this time they were not welcome on the property at all. It worked after a few days of water jets and me shouting..... Next year they tried again, this time I just shouted and made a very loud "Cat chatter" noise. They were trying it on...... the brave one on the top of the tree, shouting a bit, hopped over to the adjacent pine, to see if that would satisfy me - I continued with my shouting and Cat chatter - he then flew up to the buddy in the top of another tree - gave a few jeering shouts and flew off to the rest of them at the road junction, where they roost. Later that day, I walked down the gravel road to see my friends who live two doors from the Roost. They all yelled at me, so I just talked to them and said I had no problem with them, just not on my property! On my way back, no noise from them, and they keep away from our place ! Woo Hoo ! This year, I also discovered that all those ugly brown bumps on the tree, which I had thought was some kind of Canker and been removing them, is actually the base of the cherry stems! Due to lack of of time last year, I did not remove them and OMG HUGE numbers of cherries ! I had searched and searched for several years on the web and it was only on Reddit this year I discovered the truth! Good Luck to all you fellow fruit tree owners !!

Would a concrete base like this prevent a toilet from being installed in the garden room?
@seanr1042
@seanr1042 Месяц назад
If there are plumbing pipes to run then you can run them underneath the slab before it is poured over them(use a vapor barrier over the piping, and gravel over that) otherwise you can also route the pipes around the slab (takes more work and pipe matierial but it is doable)

I really liked your video. I planted 2 young crowns in mid spring, theyre both growing well. I love rhubarb too...I want compote and pies. I dont understand why no one out there makes or sells plain rhubarb pies. They always add strawberries and I do NOT enjoy that at all. So, I'll make my own. :) I learned alot from this video, so glad I watched it. listening to you explain everything was enjoyable, calming, clear and concise. Thankyou.

I like your video, Liam. Thank you for sharing. My rhubarb is from an old variety which is, small but very flavorful, and it is likely a cultivar put in place on our family farm about 200 years ago. Glad to preserve this botanical treasure. 😊😊

My grandma planted some years ago and it just pops up at random every year but all the leaves fell off like 4 months after they showed up and the bulbs are surrounded by many small to medium bulbs all over?
