I am a complete vegetable gardening novice but I am turning the top of my garden into a vegetable patch. Your channel is really helpful.

Really needed to see this video now as I think we gardeners (or maybe just me 🤪) tend to want to grow everything! Common sense video that I know but needed to hear! I also 100% agree

1. Green purslane gives the most produce and is one of the easiest plants to grow (literally a weed). One raised bed of purslane will give you many 5 gallon buckets of produce and a zillion seeds for next year. The bed should be wall to wall green purslane 18" high so you can not see the dirt. Very efficient use of space. Good boiled used as a spaghetti noodle. 2. Berry bushes such as raspberries are hardy and berries are expensive in the store, give calories, no need to replant. Good to grow on the fence line or perimeter. 3. Melons are expensive in the store, give calories, seeds easy to save, keep well. Good if you have good soil or access to cheap fertilizer. 4. Pumpkins such as cinderella and buttercup store well, are as good as pumpkin pie when steamed and give you calories and easy to save seeds.

excellent - this is a subject I am re-visiting for 2024, as last year was too hot to produce much, without water on my allotment.
