CHRISTINA aka SHEEP: Tennis player and ballerina turned backpacker. Anglophile! I LOVE BRITAIN SO MUCH! It is my homeland at heart. One of my life goals is to hike ALL the trails in Britain!. When I am not on a backpacking adventure, I post videos of my life with Bobo the Shar Pei. :)
Thanks Christina for taking me from my home city Glasgow to Cape Wrath. I couldn’t manage to do that myself these days. You are one gutsy gal. I enjoyed every minute. God bless and look after you on your future adventures. P.S. Our cat is called Messi Bobo.
Thank you for watching! :) That was last year 2023. If you haven't seen it, my husband Ben and I walked the Scottish National Trail from Kirk Yetholm to Cape Wrath this year April - May. There is a playlist for it. :)
What an epic journey Christina. I admire you and Ben’s determination in completing that gruelling trip. I look forward to catching up with your previous adventures. Long May you roam. Good luck and good fortune. PS. Hello to Bobo!
I love long distance walks although I am more in the few weeks to a maximum of 2 months due to to work. I have a suggestion for you, instead of another long A-B walk (although I still recommend Pyrenees GR10) climbing all the wainrights in the Lake District might be a fun alternative. Different scenery and different bases. It is something that I have in mind in the next few years.
You noticed! Yessss....I'm an Anglophile hiker. I am fascinated with everything British. I hike many many trails in the UK. I just got back from Scotland hiking 550 miles of Scottish National Trail (see my video vlogs). I've also done Wainwright's Coast to Coast 3 times in northern England, South Downs Way, West Highland Way, and the most difficult trail in the UK, the Cape Wrath Trail last year. :) I will check out Happt Valley! Cheers!
@@hikersheep I know we watched it. My husband nearly spat his wine out when Ben (correct me if I have his name wrong) when he said thi.s is a f &&£(!g miserable trail 🤣 and when he put his pole in the bog and said holy shit. 🤣
😅 OMG...I love that you "critique" yukky steep climbs like I do. I'll have to tell my sister there's others like me out there.😉. I love how you keep it real by filming the good as well as the not-so-good. 👍
Interesting to hear you say you stole food from the breakfast at Oykel Bridge Hotel. Last year we were behind you on the CWT by about two weeks. I mentioned your vlogs to the manager at Lochhournhead B&B and he was furious that you had taken several chocolate bars without paying. Any comment?
??? What??, That is not true at all. I paid for everything i got at Lochhournhead. Coffee, candy bars, a meal, internet access everything. If I remember correctly I spent over £33 on myself. I asked if a room was available but they were booked. They must have confused me with someone else! 😡 Regarding the joking comment i made about "stealing" food from Oykel Bridge Hotel. I took 1 banana and 1 apple from the breakfast buffet to eat on the go with me that I paid for including room for 2 nights. We spent approximately £300 there
@stevewilliams5872 It bothers me that he thinks I didn't pay for the chocolate bars. I talked to him awhile and I listed everything I got during my 4 hour stop there and paid in cash. He either confused me with someone else or counted his inventory wrong. 🤷🏾♀️ There were other people coming in and out as well. 😡
You will love it!! I'm jealous. I wish I could be in the UK! I have no doubt that you will make friends. There are a lot of people walking it. A very social trail. :)
I just today heard of this trail & it was suggested I view your channel. Very informative. The Scottish National Trail reminds me of The Ireland Way. How did you reach the Start point and how did you return home from the End point? I'm very interested in the logistics of Coming & Going.
Hii!! Thanks for watching!! It was such an amazing adventure. You must do it! To get there, we flew from Dallas, Texas to Edinburgh. The next day, we took buses and train to Kirk Yetholm....it was sooo long and complicated. I used Google map to tell me which bus and train to take. Getting back to Edinburgh from Cape Wrath Lighthouse is even more complicated but I've done it before so I was already familiar. You either walk 13 miles or take Cape Wrath Minibus (if it's running or have space for you) to the Kyle of Durness. Take a ferry over the Kyle of Durness (if it's running....if not, you'll have to walk around the kyle on land to Durness. From Durness, take the 801 bus to Inverness. Then train to Edimburgh. Woahhhh
Thunder Rock is where I left off. I can't wait to get back out there and finish up the last 200 miles. The first portion of that trail was hectic, it was difficult, and it was boring at times. I would say the heat and insects didn't help you much. I definitely agree with you. If you're not having fun, then it's time to go. There is one thing I wish I would have known when I started long distance hiking and it is the old saying, "never quit on a bad day." :) I was kind of forced off trail after the first 100 miles too due to somethings at home, that I didn't mention in my videos, but it was also in mid October and the days weren't as long as the summer. I found myself not taking enough time to enjoy what the trail had to offer because I was always trying to make my minimal 15 miles before sundown. The trail I want to hike and is on my bucket list, more than any other, is the PCT, the Pacific Crest Trail. That has always been my dream. :) I will make it a reality soon enough. I really enjoyed your series on the BMT. You've gained a sub here. I'm excited to check out your other videos. happy trails and thanks again for the trip down memory lane. :)
I love reliving my hike of the 1st hundred miles on the BMT. thanks for this. :) My first night on trail was across the suspension bridge, next to the river, I tried to stick to at least 15 miles a day. I woke up the next morning, which was my 40th birthday, to River Otters playing in the water. <3 And yes, that first few days on trail was crazy. It was a lot harder than I expected.
Wild camping is banned in and around Haweswater. It's an RSPB rare breed area, and if the RSPB 24 hour watch had seen you, they'd have taken steps to see you were fined........
It was great to meet you two guys and I'm so grateful I met you both when I did. This video is as much a memory for me as it is for you. I'm the wee guy in the video you couldn't understand from Glasgow. Say hi to Ben for me too. Loch Calavie the next morning will stay with me for as long as I live. I genuinely had a feeling you'd both like that beautiful campsite I walked passed and left for you. 😉 All the best to you both and thanks so, so much for all the videos. Day 27 and day 28 in particular mean so much. 👍
Oh yessss....you're the unbelievably fast strong hiker. Lol. Nice to meet you. Thanks for leaving that campsite ....it was the best one on the whole trip!!!
Superb series and congratulations to you both for completing the SNT and taking us along. No doubt many lifetime memories made for u both. I look forward to watching your next adventure in the UK when u return. In the meantime best wishes.
Have u watched any of snowymatrix throughhike channel as he has walked quite a few of the UK long distance trails including those in Wales and the Southern Upland Way in Scotland which is a tough route although waymarked.
Tremendous challenge met! Thanks for taking the time to share your journey. Your videos transported me to your struggles, and how each obstacle was overcome! I know it must have been tough doing the video after those long days on the trail. Thank you! I enjoyed each video!
Lucinda and Cat!!!! Thank you for watching again. And thanks for commenting...it makes me happy. :) I hope your holiday went well too...I'm sure it did! Yea, its tough doing videos sometimes I got behind on editing but I love sharing so I did the work anyway .
Woop! Woop! So very well done to both of you. This was a great achievement, especially dealing with our great Scottish weather. We'll miss watching your journey, it was our nightly viewing. I"m sure Bobo is so happy you're back home though. We'll look out for your next visit to the UK. Och aye the noo! Dawn & Max xx
Thank youuu!!! We will be doing more hikes around the US until we can go back to my homeland at heart....the UK. 🥰. We are finally just got home today after picking up Bobo in North Dakota which is 20 hour drive one way. It took sooo longggg. I miss Scottish weather. It is hot 40C here. 🥵
What a great journey you have had. I am glad that the SNT did not make it easy for you as it is in these times you really begin to understand the incredible things you are capable of. Resilience and perseverance, when it is easier to quit, makes these adventures truly memorable and proud worthy. Hope to see you guys on a UK trail very soon. Until then happy times with family and Bobo. ❤
Congratulations - What an epic hike that was, really enjoyed the uploads. Enjoy a very well deserved rest and thank you for highlighting my beautiful country.😁👍
Paulll!!! Nice to meet you on trail. Im sure your hike was successful with no drama and you finished? We finally are home TODAY from picking up Bobo. It was 20 hour drive one way to pick him up in North Dakota. Woahhhh.
Hi Christina and Ben! Found your YTchannel, many evenings will follow to enjoy your videos. Nice meeting you on this section of your SNT adventure. (Bye the way, I ate that squash from Real Turmat when I stayed in Knockdamph bothy that night, tasted good! 😉)
@@hikersheep Yes, I had Knockdamph bothy to myself. I did not complete the CWT. Had some footproblems and decided to go for something easier. Walked part of the Great Glen Way and then the West Highland Way. I had intended these for next year, now I hope to return to the CWT next year.
