Hello! Thanks for the video. By splicing the positive-plus together the seat adjustments work. Do you also use the seat heating? Would that be more of a concern with the gage of the black/red wire?
Yes I also use the seat heating and enjoy it every day last winter. Gage wire is OK, I check it with my Flir thermal image cam, no owerheating of any wires.
Yes and no. Not a full log but logs of fault codes even the same codes, then it logs the last 5 battery replacements and some other stuff but logs only the last service on brake pads, oil, etc. but just the last service and not the entire history
Good sound but a little jittery and not quite proportional. Obviously controlled by the PWM from the ESC but like a lot of sounds, they speed up the sound to imitate engine speed while also sending the pitch higher. Why don’t engine sound makers spend a few minutes adjusting the timing and engine pitch to the tone?
Come on guys, for real. You don't replace the entire cap just because the damn string broke. You can buy the damn tether for 50 cent, or for a dollar if you get it with the plastic ring around the cap. Replacing it takes 20 seconds, no tools required.
I remember watching this video and saying damn thats too much work but now after watching it again it aint that much work to be honest i might do it to my E46 itll be better for long drives :D Edit: Just ordered the retrofit cables and already bought a multifunction wheel so just waiting for the part to come
Hi i want to wire a 5 pin xlr cable to a 3 pin xlr socket. Should I only wire the 3 pins the same as your video and then just put electrical tape on the 4th and 5th wires? Thanks.
I read a comment that you need to apply a 12 volt DC under the bonnet while removing and replacing the battery. Is that true? Or can I simply just remove and replace my battery like every other car
no need to apply 12V while removing the old battery. But for the battery management system to calculate the expected lifetime, you will need to reset the computer which can only be made via coding,
Been watching a ton of your videos all really good stuff just wondering if you ever dealt with the passenger hood latch getting stuck shut the driver side opens but the passenger side doesn’t when you pull the hood cable
" This Video does not not cover M47 and engines before 2001/9" so i have the "BMW 3 Sedan (E46) 320 d Diesel (150 cv / 110 kW M47 D20 (204D4) 2001-2005) " and that wont work? what's the difference from yours to mine ?
This video was very helpful to me. The springs do in fact have up and down. The loop at the end is slightly larger at the bottom. Also some have asked whether it's necessary to change both springs. I'd say yes. Springs and shocks are always replaced in pairs. For my car the spring p/ns are not shown on RealOEM when I enter my chassis number so it would be virtually impossible to find a single replacement to match the old spring. A new spring of the same spec will never be identical to the old spring anyway. I had one spring break similar to yours, one and a half turn from the top. When I removed the other spring it turned out to be broken too half a turn from the bottom which was very hard to see when it was installed. The springs I removed were also not identical to each other. One was constant wire diameter and the other was tapered.
Thank you for this excellent tutorial, it made the job a breeze once I figured out how to get the car on jack stands. I only have one floor jack and it's impossible to use on the rear jack point under the diff. Thanks to a suggestion left by LeverThis on e46fanatics I was able to lift from the front jack pad and this also lifted lift the rear wheel on the same side off the ground allowing me to put a jack stand under the rear pad. I then could remove my floor jack from the front and put the spare wheel in its place as a precaution. This freed my floor jack to use for supporting the spring when disconnecting the shock. Hope this will help someone.
Hello sir, how did Bilstein shocks work for you after all this time? I have to change mine now, so im thinking between Sasch, Bilstein ... I always prefer Bilstein parts, but I heard they are not that great for some parts for the BMW. Thanks
You do not put grease on back of pads these days thats what the shim is on the back to stop brake squeal … smear bit on if makes ya feel better but the amount you put on is shocking ….nor do you put it around the side of the piston what you done… only place grease goes is on the slider pins
Great video! I have same car and now I did same job after 20y. I believe my car parts was original, never changed. I also broken the bolt what you mentioned, not happy for that at all. I also replaced wishbones, swing supports, new springs, support bearings. Also did front brake renewal (changed new brake cylinders). But I do not recommend to hold compressed spring upwars as you did, it will be real dangerous and if something bad happened you will get injured. I always hold it sideways and away from everything living when compressed :). I believe spring replacement may be one of the most dangerous DIY. Thanks for the video and take care!
Hello, what for a motor have you used? I'm building the 1.7m long container ship with 1 propeller shaft (4mm diameter). Is it needed to tilt down the shaft down as you did or it is possible to mount the shaft also straight? Thanx for answer to my 2 questions... 🙂
I use a Speed 800 motor. I believe a Speed 600 could also do it because a Tanker should be kind a slow. You can chose any angle you prefer for the shaft that doesnt matter. Best if you can do it straight and avoid the coupling, then less energy is lost
@@MaxSupercars just that the bow wont dive so much deeper into the water at high speed if you have the prop shaft parallel to the waterline. But for a 1.7m its only a principle discussion. So I would do what ever I feel comfortable with.
