Good video. I find it funny, saying at 16:50 that the car has to double the temperature from 9 Celsius to 18 Celsius. Makes no sense from a physics point of view.
Always keeping an eye on camper vans - I could attempt to persuade my wife to try this as a dry run for doing more regular day trips/weekends out and about without the faff and cost of booking hotels
This is not a complaint, just an observation…. The £1000 off link does indeed give you £1000 off the list price off whatever you spec the car to be, providing you buy it on PCP, or HP (not sure about the Contract Hire…) But… if you can afford it and can pay cash 💰 then it looks like the £1000 becomes £2000 😮 happy to be corrected😊
How amazing that you managed to keep hold of the camera all night and it happened to be pointed at your head and recording when the alarm went of and you woke up! 😂
Great video love car camping in Tesla idea having ac all night be a god send. Didn’t no Tesla did mattress glad they do as it looks like it fits perfectly
Regarding the window covers, I'd suggest you put the foil side out to block the sun, but foil side in at night, not only to keep some warmth in, but also so that it's not so obvious to those outside that there's someone sleeping inside. The black facing out just looks like black tint after dark.
Where I live (outskirts of London) there are several large supermarkets and stores nearby with big car parks. None of them have ev charging, nor do they look like getting it any time soon.
@@zachary3603 Caravan club don’t let you sleep in a car so that’s 2300 sites straight away you can’t use. I tried it at 3/4 private ones and they wouldn’t allow it. My query was why can you sleep in a van with a mattress thrown in back but not a car with camp mode. Response below Good morning, Unfortunately you wouldn't be able to sleep in your car on site. Kind regards, South Cliff Holiday Park
@@Json918 hey you’re welcome! Hope you enjoy your new car! Be sure to check Out the referral link in the description and you’ll save £1000 on your new Tesla
Brings back memories as we used to camp at Whitehill Farm with a trailer tent when the kids were young between 1991 to 2000. Would love to do this with Model Y, but I'm too old for camping now, unfortunately. Nice car and video.
Hey Mark! Im from America and those roads looked so small to me when you were leaving camp. Ive never been to the UK, but do you feel the Model Y is compact enough to navigate those streets?
I heard you are slanting slightly downwards when lying down. To address this, other RU-vidrs have advised to place two equal sized stoppers underneath the back tyres (reverse over it). This way you are flat. Don’t know if that makes sense ha
Campmode tip…. Tesla Camp Mode Additional car setup changes I made in addition to campmode Create a new local driver profile call it campmode. Adjust seat for best mattress fitment so boot closes and gives good head space, you do have to manually adjust passenger seat but at least you have a reference point for each time you setup Turned off sentry altogether while parked, I know camp mode turns this off when in use but didn’t need it while camping either. Turned off auto lights, ambient lights, stearing wheel lights, turned screen brightness down, turned off lock sound. All within the local profile. Hopefully Tesla will add these into a software update to camp mode.
Moved to Cornwall, tick. SUP, tick. Van next, then kite surfing. 😂 Enjoy Mark. Ps. Exeter must have the most superchargers in the country - Services, Darts & the show room!
It's really good that you did a full end-to-end experience review of it. I thought you might skip over the packing-up portion which is something a lot of people often overlook with experiences like this.
lol😂 just take a tent or book into hotel / b and b. Not very practical especially if set up and you want to pop out or you have a lot of gear let alone moving kit in and out of the car. But far enough in an emergency or if it’s your thing enjoy. We’ve got back after a weeks camping in Normandy witch was a wee bit wet but enjoyed it nevertheless. With the rangy we fitted everything in and tons of space to spare, also the tail gait is amazing being able to picnic of the back is fun and comfortable, not many other cars you can do that. The point a big benefit of a tent it gives you a more permanent structure/ base especially if staying more than one night or have gear in wet weather. Charging tech, several options some campsites have pitch power, or use a power bank or the car, the rangy has loads of power options like in the boot for the fridge. The other key benefit is being close to nature with minimal isolation, not every one cup of tea. But horses for courses
Hey great comment thank you, your trip sounded great. Yes, I agree you wouldn’t want to do this for more than a night or two and it’s handy if you’re just may be popping somewhere for an evening and then coming back the next day not a lot of room for a full holiday But for an odd night hearing there I think I could do it 👍
Hey Freddy , yes I just paid for a two man tent pitch and message them before saying I was staying in the car which they seemed happy about, so cost me £16 for the night
Oh sorry to hear that, some of my videos don’t have music but as this is a long one I think it’s nice to have a bit of music to keep the attention, especially over a fairly boring subject like this 😆
Great video, Mark! Camping sounds like an awesome idea. What camera did you use to record? The video quality is really clear, especially during the day. Thanks!
Hey thanks for the question, so I use a few cameras for this video, my main camera is a Sony ZV-E1, and then all of the Devon stuff was filmed on a DJI action 4, then I also have a few shots my iPhone 14 Pro, and an Insta360. Let me know if you have any questions about the camera gear.
