I CRACK my model 3 Windscreen whilst using RainX Chip Repair
So I tried to review the RainX Windscreen repair and as you can see it didn't work. This is not a bad reflection of the product as the screen may have been beyond repair... although it was a tiny chip when I started.

Disclaimer: This is just what happened. I'm not saying the product is bad or you shouldn't try it... it just didn't work for me. Maybe get expert advice if you're in the same situation as me, however I saw a lot of successful jobs done with this on youtube.

We chipped our Tesla Model 3, a year or two ago. Fortunately it was less than a pound in size, and off to the right of the drivers view. We called Autoglass, who came to the house and fixed it perfectly, and best of all it cost us nothing, as it was covered on our insurance. The AG guy told me never trust any of the kits, because they apply pressure all in the wrong places.

I got Halfords to do mine on my driveway. £40 a go. Quick and easy job. Had it twice now. For those saying they did it on insurance - I don’t trust the insurance companies to play fair.

i had the same problem on thursday.called insurance and only cost £75 excess and booked in with auto glass on 20th hopefully they get the screen.will update when done

I had my Model 3 windscreen replaced a couple of months ago. A stone on the M62 caused a 5 inch crack but luckily I managed to get it replaced within a week at Auto Windscreens Salford. Went through insurance so only cost my glass excess.

Had mine replaced by autoglass, £75 excess and genuine Tesla screen. Had a slight issue in that the ordered the incorrect model yeah windscreen, albeit this was rectified very quickly and still replaced within a day, so no time wasted!

I used a similar kit many moons ago on my Ford Cougar. It worked but not perfectly (but the remaining flaw was barely noticeable so I was happy enough with it). In my case I was working on just a chip tho, not a chip+crack combo.

Mine cracked and I had to go through autoglass. The full cost was over £1000 but I went through my insurance and paid the excess. Takes 1/2 day to have it done as they have to do a drive to calibrate the car afterwards ( ?? ) Note they have to order the glass so it is usually a couple of days waiting time unless they do have one in stock. Hope it goes ok for you.

Yes mines booked in for the 1st July, yes they mentioned that to me! Interesting! I might do a second calibration myself when I get it back

Balanced take. I’m guessing crack severity has a big influence on a successful repair. A cracked windscreen sucks, hope you can get it replaced soon!

Mega unfortunate! I had my Model Y get 2 huge chips right next to each other within 2 weeks of each other, so needed a new windscreen within a month of getting the car! Luckily all covered by insurance, just had to pay a small excess. Didn't impact my renewal quote either which was nice!

Halfords could have injected resin if simple chip out of the line of sight. Probably wise you made it worse as might have ended up in same state regardless.

When I had my stone chip sealed, they did warn me that the screen might crack due to the pressure, which worried me but thankfully it didn’t.

Yeah mine seemed to crack with only a tiny bit of pressure so might have already been more damaged than it looked

absolute nightmare that is. always just go through your insurance for stuff like as doesn't affect your excess or premium!

I’d say it’s pretty poor of the manufacturer to not include English instructions! No doubt it would have mentioned how much to tighten the screw.
