@@michaelford2306 Hello Pastor Mike.. Your comment was attached to a video I did a while ago with my brother and his Toyota FJ but I’m assuming you’re referring to the lights on my Honda GoldWing. If so, then I think your speaking of these - see link. They are very easy to install and give a lot more visibility. wingstuff.com/products/34313-passenger-armrest-trim-for-gl1800
Thank u so much....I'll c if they hav them 4 the GL1500....take care of ur great family....if I don't hear frm u enjoy ur upcoming holidays...c u soon...
I'm a bit of an adventurist, so I'd probably try it in either car, but my preference would most likely be the Scion/Toyota which has a much higher reliability rating than the Fiat 500. I've never seen them side by side though, so interior space may come into play if you plan on camping / sleeping in the car. The key aspect to the Smart was that the passenger seat folds flat, giving me room to stretch out and lie down without being cramped. That said, I'm only 5'5 so not very tall.
Brotherman you are an inspiration. I'm from NYC and I usually travel to the Catskills and Albany often. I also travel to Massachusetts often. Compared to NYC, it's like two different worlds. I tell people in the city all the time, there is a whole world to see. You seem very brave to be doing that alone in the middle of nowhere. I also heard about the sundown towns. How do you get over that type of discomfort I plan to drive to California soon. But I will consider taking I-80. I figure i would set the GPS to avoid all tolls. So i would get a chance to get off the highway from time to time and ride many alternate roads and take in the scenery
Hey Shawn this is Mkke again...I ask concerning a car tire on the rear of my goldwing gl 1500...one additional concern...did u hav 2 change ur tire rim or did u keep the same rim...look 4ward 2 ur response
Hi again.. I actually purchased a used OEM rim (facebook Market place) to have the car tire mounted. Took the rim and tire to a tire shop and they installed it for me. So now I have a rear rim with a motorcycle tire and one with a car tire. I figured it wouldn't hurt to have both depending on what kind of riding I'm planning to do. I took it upon myself to remove and install the tire/rim on and off the bike. Hope that helps.
I appreciate. Very much your response.I think I'm going to do likewise...i look forward to doing quite a bit of riding in the future.Just trying to bring the bike up to code.I got a real good deal on it for $3000.And it has thirty thousand miles on it.. it's in excellent condition
Hello, young man. My name is Mike. I have A GL 1500 goldwing and I enjoy riding. I also enjoy very much ur clips especially with your sons and travels.... I appreciate your clips very much. Glad that you're being safe on the road. I have a question if you can respond please. I wanted to get the car tire on the rear of the bike. Can you tell me....does that alter ur speed monitor faster or slower? Does it affect it in anyway? Thank you so much. We'll continue to watch you and your family be safe.
Hi Mike.. nice to meet you. I'm glad you are enjoying the videos of me and my sons. This is something we do every fathers day. We live across the country from each other and it's our way of getting together to share a our love for motorcycles, riding and good ole' quality time with each other. To answer your question, I researched (mostly via RU-vid and GL1800 Darkside Forums) the size tire to use for my 06 Goldwing. The suggestion was a 195/55R 16 which is almost the same exact height as the stock OEM tire, so my speed has been just about the same. If anything it may show a little faster than you're actually going, although when riding on the bike tire, it does the same. So I would say it's most likely an exact match. I can't tell you if the size I use will work best with the GL1500, but I'm sure someone out there in RU-vid land has done it and should have some good information for you.
Thanks partner. I really appreciate your response. I don't know what a OEM tire RIm is, but I'll go ahead look it up and see what happens... I have a trailer hitch on my gold wing and I will be purchasing a trailer. Also, I think the car tire would be better for mileage, especially with the trailer ...thx so 4 ur response...I'll c u on the road soon hopefully...
Hey man, where did you get the obd scanner and heads up display?...no temp gauge on this smart I just bought...need more information cause I will be going on a long trip....thanks John
Hey.. this is the one I purchased, but there are several others available. Good luck on your trip! QPKING X50 Plus Car OBD HUD... www.amazon.com/dp/B01HET7ANE?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
I put many miles on a smart car. I loved it. Such a maintenance free car. If you put the same size tire that is on the back on the front, it will ride like a Honda, and changes the car completely. You won't be able to rotate them though because the rims in the back are wider than the rims on the front, but the tire fits on there just fine, and it completely changes the comfort level of the car. When you hit a bump you won't lose tooth fillings anymore. 😂 I wish somebody would have told me that when I first got the car. Nice video.
Thanks! I totally agree. I purchased new wheels and placed 205/50-r15's on all four. It totally changed the ride and handling characteristics and made the cross country ride really enjoyable.
Hey there Shawn, really enjoying your videos of your trip from MD to Colorado. While I find your music soothing to listen to I really like to sit back and listen to the sound of the wind and the bike as you cycle down the highways and byways. Mobile safe and remember "You always meet the nicest people on a Honda" 😁
To be honest, I didn't know if I would like darksiding, so I purchased a really cheap tire from Pepboys ($60 - Definity HP800) first to try it out. Well it's been over 20k miles and rock solid since. I'm replacing it this season with a better (name brand) tire, but I haven't decided on which one yet. Looking to find a run-flat, although based on this little cheap tires performance, I'm not sure why I would want to do anything different at this point.
What a mission of a drive! Love seeing spots along the country-side when road tripping like Uranus with all the old-school vibes and the funny signs😂 Cool Video! 👍
😂the race. Showing the boys that the wing will fly 😂. Great videos thanks for sharing, there’s nothing better than the memories you made with your kids. Ride safe brother
Hi.. here is a link to where I purchased my trailer. We normally pull this behind our motorcycle, but it works just as well behind our Smart. theusatrailerstore.com/pull-behind-motorcycle-trailers/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAyKurBhD5ARIsALamXaGNsg3SagimzyF0IuDZPAhNkoKXrTY71_u31E6USqEgUVmoPUcR9WAaApjnEALw_wcB
Me and the wife just did a 10 day 2000 mile trip from FL to the Smokies. On a road glide limited. There were quite a few gold wings we met on our trip. Like the way you set up your bike. I have the same highway peg set up.
Hi there, you è given me a great idea. I’m likely to purchase one within the week if all goes well and I will aim to do what you are doing but around Europe. Likely France, Spain Italy, but more importantly camp with it too. I have an old Porsche 911 (993 cabriolet) which I’ve used to do road trips (more recently last year round france and this year August around Spain) and also have a Merc estate. Should be fun to do something different and I like your idea very much. Enjoy brutha 🙃👊🏿👌🏿
enjoy your trip we did Liverpool - Paris - Cannes - Pisa a few years back & had the best time we managed to fit in a 6 man tent, all the gear for sleeping & cooking, clothes etc & ours was a cabriolet! they're tough little cars, wayy more spacious than people realise & so much fun!
I understand that tourism generates money, but i always think to myself that places such as these should not be blighted by human concrete boxes. Spoils the natural beauty of these places.
Great video series. That goldwing is clean. I have a 2004 GW and hope to catch up with ya on the road some day if we ever happen to be going the same way.
