In the Serbian language vlach also means shepherd. In medieval Serbia The Zakon vlahom, which does not mean the Vlach law, did not apply to soldiers but to shepherds and herdsmen. I even studied History (mainly medieval history), but could never really understand who exactly the Walchen were supposed to be, who left place names around today´s Salzburg in abundance (for example: Wallersee is a lake, Straßwalchen and Seewalchen are settlements, but there are more).
