The March Ahead is a really interesting project. It started out sounding almost like a sequel to Attack Attack’s self titled album (the last AA release Johnny was on), but with less screams. Mid to late era March Ahead sounded more like a heavier version of early Bilmuri. Also the reason it’s on the Bilmuri channel is because he had like 3 bands going at once and was also producing for other bands, so he was just posting it all on his Johnny Franck channel. Then after Bilmuri blew up, he decided to focus solely on that and drop the other bands, and changed the channel name accordingly.
For some background information about Olly Steele, his playing is so tasty and nice is because he was one of two guitarists in Monuments and contributed to all their studio albums before leaving just before they made their latest album "In Statis" Also, the drums were not programed the drummer is Anup Sastry who was in Monuments for a year who I think now just does studio work.
Great reactions! On the contortionist, this album took me some time to get used to but after a few listens I fell in love with it. The whole album hits on a serious, close to home topic to the singer, so that probably explains the uneasiness felt by the chat and yourself. On another note, Language is an absolutely incredible album if you somehow go down the rabbit hole of their music lol some songs are a bit long, progressive, kinda jazzy in some parts. Then there are albums like Exoplanet and Intrinsic that are in the heavy progressive genre. Depends on what you like though. Also, If you ever get the chance to see them live they are incredible. It's not just live music... it's a whole experience. I've seen them live about 4 times, once with Periphery, once with Between the Buried and Me and 2 other shows that I don't remember the headliners for lol been too long. didn't plan to but they were part of the line ups. Each show I've seen them at was so unique and well crafted, they do a great job of including songs from all of their albums. When they headline a tour I am going to see them again. Subbed and look forward to watching through more of your videos!
I had been a bìt leery of checking thìs out so this was my 1st time hearing it too. I agree and love it. I love how they kept the sprinkling of vocals as if they were from a distance like the original. ❤️🤍💙
About the Between the Buried and Me song, thats how they allways play. They have so many ideas mashed together in one song its hard to get your head around it and even harder to headbang. Sometimes its chaotic and you feel like a ragdoll being thrown around in a washing Machine. Took a while for me to appreciate that but once I did I absolutely fell in love with them. This unique style of progressive metal, they can play many different genres in one song, and many goofy sections just for fun and they do it seemlessly. My favorite band of all time without doubt, you shouldnt give up on them because this band is a treasure and I am at least glad you noticed the musicianship because these guys are some of the best technically in what they do especially the bass player and drummer are second to none
Tommy is also an acquired taste. Great cleans, sings in minor a lot, and doesn’t have a lot of tonality… but an S tier keyboardist and very good lyricist. Someone force him to sit and listen from Prequal to the Sequel thru White Walls. A mini journey highlighting every part of the band.
@@hanksilman4016 Personally I like Tommys clean vocals, his screaming however is superb and has allways been. I dont know how many singers who screams that effortless and with that consistency playing concerts. Many people says his screaming is repetetive but if you look at similar vocalists like Greg Paciato (TDEP) or Jacob Bannon (Converge) who are masters of this hardcore style its fair to say he have even more to offer. Like I said the entire band is really a super group, and they can sound "show off" sometimes like Dream Theater but in my opinion thats the fun part about the band you never know when a drum solo will come or an impressive guitar solo from Paul
@@MrTelorix I agree. I like Tommy’s vocals as well. BTBAM is one of my top 5 bands do you’re preaching to the choir. I’ve been along for the ride since Alaska.
About to watch, but just wanted to say love the reactions, and thanks for putting the time stamps/chapters in these longer videos. Makes finding the Periphery clickbait (that works oh so well on me) song that much easier!
Well at zhe moment this doesn't mean so much they know that zhey have to build a new album together with enoughbtracks of Momoko. Thecgeneral requests for hervare higher than expected and since they just released rhe other one right before Momoko became a new member Babymetal might not worry about a few broken bones. Butcwe know that this is in fact a 50/50 Song according to their Tour Manager Tank. Their is a big part of Babymetal well hidden in the mixxed parts. Momoko had some growling to do. Andvthey are also at the same day in Rock am Ring. They will be busy. But in general we will have to wait on their Making of the video production now
Putting Repitle in the middle of a video should be a war crime LOLOLOLOL.... it's leagues above anything else remotely tangential to it. half kidding... great video and reaction. I can tell you're actually a musician, which is awesome!! Cheers!
Hey Hey Steve, it's me, I'm the one who requested Hail To The King 😅 In hindsight, a different song of theirs would have been a wise choice to start off with. I just couldn't get past this one, if you're open to giving them another go, I'd put their newest song "the Jericho protocol" a listen. It's a much more "traditional" structure and not even half the length 😅. Thanks for giving me the chuckles of this though! Ps. Please don't think any less of Ash or her recommendations 😅😅 I take full responsibility for this one.
"that sounds like the inside of a brain of a man who is crumbling" - Well, that was essentially the theme of the album. The vocalist's wife was sick with their first kid and it almost killed both of them. The album's theme where the vocalist feels completely helpless, lost, and unable to cope while his wife was moving from hospital to hospital trying to be cured.
For Kaleo, the studio version of this is very different. They can't really be categorised, but they are often called blues rock. You really need to look at some of their other songs to get a feel for what they can do because they're honestly amazing and sound exactly the same live.
Fear & Trembling is one of the last songs I’d recommend if trying to get someone into ETID Any combo of these 5 should do: -Revival Mode -Wanderlust -Decayin With The Boys -Map Change -Post Boredom All relatively accessible but showcases their range and various styles/influences.
FKJ and Masego are UNREAL talented musicians. FKJ especially is simply incredible for me personally. I would highly recommend checking out some of his other live videos even if it's in your own time. SO GOOD!
I cant for the life of me understand some people insisting on introducing Sybreed with Bioactive. Electronegative. Lucifer effect. Permafrost. doomsday party. I am ultraviolence. Emma-0. Neurodrive. Anything from the Antares album ( album featuring Dirk Verbeuren on drums ) or the pulse of awakening. Legendary albums. you will never find something similar, trust me i am still looking.
Late to this video but I strongly recommend a deep dive into Periphery. It can be on your channel or on your own time but it's worth it. One of my favorite bands ever. They do have long songs but they do long songs so well
Also, I love ETID but there are plenty of better songs imo opinion - especially for someone that isn’t already a lover. The lyricism has always been so strong and definitely hope more request come in as would love to see you won over by them ☺️
Saw Novelists in Manchester on their last tour and they were amazing live - absolutely on point. Stoked for their Northlane support slot towards the end of the year 🙌🏻
gideon is cool, solid melodic hardcore. should check Heart in Hand, that was really good british melodic hardcore a while ago. that whole genre was my jam for a good while.
seeing drew and tundra in the chat is so funny lmfao edit: also, seeing that they had you react to young and dumb instead of literally anything else was so crazy to me
