If you weren't aware Too Close Too Touch's singer Keaton died about 2 years ago and this song was one of the singles off their final album with him. Comes out Friday
Keaton Pierce was the singer of Too Close Too Touch. He died two years ago due to a medical issue (if I’m not wrong). He and Noah were really good friends. Novocaine is one of the three last songs Keaton was working on before he passed away.
If you didnt know Ian kenny is the lead singer along with karnivool is the lead singer of Bird of Tokyo which is a massively popular alternative rock/pop band in Australia.
It's kind of hilarious that you describe Animals as Leaders as Jazz + Classical + distorted guitars. I grew up in and still currently play saxophone in a jazz band and a classical wind ensemble, which might explain why I love Animals as Leaders and listen to them all the time while I'm working.
Time the valuator is clearly a hidden metalcore gem. I just can’t understand why they aren’t getting more recognition. They had a vocalist change, and the latest guy is superb. But there’s something incredible that I can’t explain with their previous one. Like one of the better clean vocalist out there. If you ever want to dig, which you probably should, check the album How fleeting, how fragile by them. It’s freaking delicious.
Would love to see you react to one of Matt garska’s drum play throughs. I watch home and it hurts my head, he almost looks like a robot playing some of it. The play throughs are called the madness of Matt.
Great reactions! On the contortionist, this album took me some time to get used to but after a few listens I fell in love with it. The whole album hits on a serious, close to home topic to the singer, so that probably explains the uneasiness felt by the chat and yourself. On another note, Language is an absolutely incredible album if you somehow go down the rabbit hole of their music lol some songs are a bit long, progressive, kinda jazzy in some parts. Then there are albums like Exoplanet and Intrinsic that are in the heavy progressive genre. Depends on what you like though. Also, If you ever get the chance to see them live they are incredible. It's not just live music... it's a whole experience. I've seen them live about 4 times, once with Periphery, once with Between the Buried and Me and 2 other shows that I don't remember the headliners for lol been too long. didn't plan to but they were part of the line ups. Each show I've seen them at was so unique and well crafted, they do a great job of including songs from all of their albums. When they headline a tour I am going to see them again. Subbed and look forward to watching through more of your videos!
I'll second what the other comment said, Time the Valuator's first album 'How Fleeting, How Fragile' is a masterpiece and definitely worth doing a full reaction to. The vocalist is different but arguably better. Time the Valuator's only letdown is that they really haven't made a whole lot of music as of yet.
The Contortionist is one of these bands where you should give it a bit time to grow but if you do it will be absolutely worth it. One of our absolute favorite bands. Their latest album called Clairvoyant is an absolute Masterpiece. BUT your critique is completely understandable, especially in your setting. I think The Contortionist is not the best music to react to in a video where instant emotions are required. The music is not written to have the clearest releases and climaxes. It's more of a music where you should give it time, put on great headphones, lean back, close your eyes and enjoy the journey.
I can certainly appreciate what you're saying here, and I suspect you are entirely correct. It's definitely beautiful, very intentional and well considered, but yeah doesn't really pack a strong punch necessarily... and of course it doesn't HAVE to. Music shouldn't all have the same end-goal. I think I need to listen to this in my own time and really let it breathe properly. Cheers for the insight!
Definitely appreciate it more in the context of the album knowing what it's about. I think a lot of the build up throughout the album is released in the last part of the last track, which is pretty cool, though i can't listen to it without tearing up lol
pretty shure 'the joy of motion' has the Animals as Leaders songs you would like the most. Tooth and claw is one of the weakest in the album in my opinion. Still a great song
imo, Animals as Leaders tell melodical or rythmical stories in their music. its music for an active listener who wants to conciously egnage with what theyre listening to and be surprised by what they find. they're very technica but their technicality serves the purpose of creating a truly unique auditory landscape imo. theres lots of djent bands but no one does it like aal imo. The song you listened to is one to just let loose and go wild to, a great song but propably not very respresentative what they're all about, as its very in your face. Over the years AAl also leaned more into their Jazz and Classical aspects
